A decade ago, No Man’s Sky was struggling to live up to the universe it had promised. Now, after ten years of free updates and one of gaming’s most talked-about turnarounds (maybe only after Cyberpunk 2077), Hello Games is preparing to squeeze that universe into something considerably smaller – a mobile phone.
As Gematsu reports, No Man’s Sky is coming to iPhone and iPad on October 28, 2026, in a way that goes further than a mobile spin-off or a generic companion app. This iOS edition will include the game’s major updates, from its early foundations to this year’s Cosmos update. Oddly, though, while Apple’s announcement confirms October 28, the US App Store listing currently shows October 29, with no explanation for the discrepancy at the moment.
Ten Years of Updates Have Made This Possible
When No Man’s Sky launched in August 2016, the reception was anything but the celebration Hello Games had hoped for. Its biggest selling point was the enormous procedurally generated universe, but several heavily anticipated features were missing, and the gap between the hype and the finished product became its defining story. Instead of moving on, Hello Games kept working on it.
