A new GameCube remaster has just been officially released for the Nintendo Switch, in what is likely the most surprising release this month. There are Nintendo GameCube games on Nintendo Switch Online, but access to this special catalog is only available via Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. As such, even if you are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online, you can’t play games like Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, or Luigi’s Mansion on your Nintendo Switch. It’s a disappointing restriction for Switch owners and a measure to encourage an upgrade to Switch 2.
New titles are occasionally added to the service, but it seems like not all GameCube titles are restricted to Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. According to a new report by ComicBook, the remaster of a game, originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, has officially been released for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. This is not a new addition to the GameCube catalog via Nintendo Switch Online, but instead a full game release for both consoles, 24 years later. This came as a surprise, as it was unknown it would arrive for the original Nintendo Switch console.
