Jon Snow and the Night King are returning in Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, and this time, they will finally have their promised fight. One of the most intriguing parts of George R. R. Martin's book series is that some prophecies are left intentionally mysterious and unclear, with multiple characters or events fitting their description. Among them, perhaps the most important, is the infamous "Prince That Was Promised," which many believe is none other than Game of Thrones' Jon Snow. Some characters see the prophesied figure as a return of Azor Ahai.
This matters because the legendary warrior's reincarnation, the Prince That Was Promised, is supposed to use a weapon called Lightbringer to drive away the Long Night. In the books, the main candidates for the Prince That Was Promised are Daenerys and Jon Snow, as the prophecy mentions that the criteria include being born amidst smoke and salt, that bleeding stars shall appear in the sky, and that the Prince should be of Targaryen blood. Because of this, Jon Snow was believed to be the one destined to defeat the Night King, but this doesn't happen in the show.
