Naughty Dog Is Working On Developing Systems That Are Useable By AI

Earlier this year, an interview with Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann caused a stir. The Uncharted creator reportedly said that AI would “revolutionize how content is being created” and that it could “reduce costs and technical hurdles”. Whether he actually used these words is up for debate, as Druckmann claimed he had been misquoted by Sony, who published the original interview.

However, whether Druckmann was misquoted is neither here nor there, as the studio seems to be pushing ahead with the development of tools that can be utilized by artificial intelligence.

In a new job advert for an animation programmer, Naughty Dog says it is looking for somebody who can "invent, develop, maintain, and improve upon gameplay animation systems that leads the industry in quality while maintaining robust flexibility for use by AI, designers, and script".

While further details on the role's use of AI are limited, it's interesting to see that The Last of Us developers are looking to create their own systems that can be used by artificial intelligence. This suggests that, while Druckmann may have claimed to have been misquoted in Sony's interview, the games industry...
