It's safe to say that Firewalk Studios' Concord is off to a rocky start. An unusual marketing campaign, a $40 price point, and entering a saturated market means the Guardians of the Galaxy-like hero shooter is struggling to find its feet.

I wish more live-service games could charge more upfront and reduce monetisation, but it’s tough out there.

The game's poor launch is punctuated by its player numbers. On Steam, the game peaked at 697 total players, and now, it's struggling even to hit triple digits. As I type this, the game has 51 players on Steam, peaking at 103 in the last 24 hours. Considering you need ten players to fill a lobby, there could be, at most, ten games ongoing at any one time — providing everybody attempts to join a match at the same time.

This has, as you can imagine, caused issues with players joining games, with the matchmaking process taking upwards of eight minutes in many cases.
