For the next two days, you can check out one of the most critically acclaimed strategy games of the last several years. Firaxis Games is offering XCOM 2 for free for 48-hours via Steam. This includes the PC, Linux and Mac versions. All that's required is to log into Steam and click the "Play Game" button to get started.

If you like what you see, you can also snap up some pretty sweet deals too. Throughout the 48-hour event, you can get the base game for $19.79 (standard) or $24.74 (digital deluxe) -- that's 67% off the normal price. There are other deals too including the XCOM 2 Collection that comes with all the available DLC and a Steam Controller + XCOM 2 package.

Check it all out on the XCOM 2 Steam page.

XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.  Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.
