The StarCraft series is back, kind of. Yesterday, it was revealed that StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2 are coming to Xbox Game Pass this November, finally giving the series some life years after its last new instalment.
Now, it turns out there may be a reason for this surprise port. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the StarCraft series is "not dead", and a new shooter set in the series is in development. This would be the third attempt to get a StarCraft shooter off the ground, with two similar titles being cancelled by Blizzard in the past.
As spotted by GamesRadar, Schreier revealed this on IGN's Unlocked podcast. Here, he said that while he was working on his book about Activision Blizzard, Play Nice, he became aware of the StarCraft shooter's existence, and is confident that it's still in development.
"Yes, that is a project that, as far as I know, is in development, or at least, as of the time that I wrote this book," says Schreier. "StarCraft is not dead at Blizzard."
