One Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) fan was quick to notice that Latios, Latias, and Mesprit feature connected artwork, depicting a continuous, single landscape that spans multiple cards. The Pokémon TCG has a new collector’s highlight with the recently released Surging Sparks set. Having launched on November 8, it just so happens that this set of cards came with a wonderful surprise for both fans and avid collectors.

What captured fan interest was not just the beauty of these individual cards but the unexpected discovery of a surprise connection between them, which had not been explicitly teased by The Pokémon Company or the set’s designers.

Among the three cards, one features Latios as an “ex” card—a more powerful and rare designation within the Pokémon TCG that also comes with a lower pull rate than standard cards.
