Season 1 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone is officially live for Call of Duty players, and something seems missing.
Warzone players found a riot shield-shaped hole in the list of armaments they expected to find. As a quick glance at social media reactions will tell you, there was much rejoicing.
In a game about quick reflexes and putting shots into targets, having the "remove opponent" button suddenly not do that was... frustrating, for some. Others quite enjoyed the staying power brought by the riot shield, but it seems the developers at Treyarch may have had other plans.
That being said, the riot shield isn't just missing from the game; it's also missing from the official patch notes—typically, removals of expected content are listed here.
As discussed on GameSpot, it's possible that the riot shield was simply forgotten rather than consciously removed. It could find its way back into the Call of Duty experience.
But if you're feeling mildly conspiratorial, this absence could, itself, be a conscious decision. It would give the developers a chance to say, "Oops, we forgot," if their shield-busting operation wasn't received as well as they hoped.
Regardless of what may or may not...
