The rare dialogue occurs during the game's opening sequence aboard the Nautiloid. When one enters the 'boss room' where a Mindflayer is battling Commander Zhaik, the Illithid usually shouts "You, Thrall! Connect the nerves to the Transponder. We must escape. Now," as they're under the impression that the player and their companions are mindless thralls following the tadpole infection.
However, Morganlefey on Reddit has discovered an alternate dialogue. While the original poster wasn't sure what triggered this dialogue, a commenter named HumanFighter420 theorises that it's because the player entered the room with 'Us', the Intellect Devourer you can befriend in one of the Nautiloid's first rooms.
As the devourer isn't a thrall, the Mindflayer instead says "You! Find a thrall. They must connect the nerves of the transponder. We must escape. Now." It's a small change, but one that reflects that the creature being addressed isn't a thrall. A couple...
