Denjin Den's Reviews

Nov 20, 2025

R-Type Delta offers an adventure made up of seven lethal stages, each designed with the surgical cruelty typical of the franchise. The checkpoints are "only slightly less cruel" than in the infamous R-Type II, but do not fool yourself: dying is part of the experience, and you will die often.

8 / 10.0 - Neon Inferno
Nov 12, 2025

Its perhaps overly short running time aside, Neon Inferno is a run and gun of the highest order, and it deserves credit for bringing the old Cabal-style mechanics back to our screens. High quality pixel art and a delightful soundtrack are an excellent accompaniment to explosive gameplay that will win over even the most demanding retrogamers.

8 / 10.0 - BIRDCAGE
Nov 11, 2025

A genuinely satisfying experience on a visual level, with an intriguing minimalist story and explosive gameplay that pays tribute to a few classics without giving up a soul of its own.

8 / 10.0 - Dark Quest 4
Nov 5, 2025

If you are a HeroQuest fan and you have a couple of friends to throw yourselves into the adventure with, do not think twice and buy it right away. It proves fun, replayable, long-lasting enough for the price, and extremely well crafted in its mechanics, which will not leave you wrestling with decision paralysis but instead push for immediate action without too much ceremony.

Overall, The House of the Dead 2 Remake is a project born of good intentions but unable to truly capture the spirit of the original. It is a restoration job that only works on the surface: the polish is new, but the heart has stayed the same, with all the limitations of a 25 year old game.

The game marks a return of the Story series to what fans have been asking for some time: collecting and evolving Digimon, customising your team as you see fit, a battle system that is traditional yet modern, and a plot that weaves together different worlds and eras.

5.5 / 10.0 - Sonic Wings Reunion
Oct 7, 2025

If Sonic Wings always had a 2D style with sprites that were not outstanding but at least pleasant, here the decision was to throw it all away and move to an anonymous 3D/2.5D look. Had the style been able to make up for the graphical shortcomings, we would be talking about a completely different game. Unfortunately, though, Sonic Wings Reunion is neither Ikaruga nor Under Defeat, coming across as generic in its enemy design and only partly redeeming itself with the design of a few bosses.

7 / 10.0 - Psycho Dream
Sep 13, 2025

If the platforming is not among the best and the hitboxes do rather as they please, Psycho Dream remains highly fascinating, above all where its story is concerned, never hinted at in the game itself yet reflected in the level design and in a progression that culminates in a final boss set to a chiptune version of Schubert's Ave Maria.

6.5 / 10.0 - Hell Is Us
Sep 10, 2025

Rogue Factor set out to bring ideas and inspirations together, giving the game enough personality to set it apart from other action-adventures. You reach the end credits carried along all the same by the atmosphere and the strong themes, as well as by the curiosity to find out how the story turns out. The trip is not always a pleasant one, though, and more often than not it proves decidedly hard going.

9 / 10.0 - Gradius Origins
Sep 4, 2025

An almost definitive collection for lovers of the series and, as if that were not enough, the new Salamander III is included too. The obsessive care put into every aspect is hugely appreciated, and diehards can finally enjoy a collection that does the arcade games justice.

It is not a complex or difficult game, which makes it an excellent first experience for younger players. Gamers with a few more years behind them should not turn their noses up at it either, though, since it is in fact one of the pink ball's finest adventures.

10 / 10.0 - Earthion
Aug 12, 2025

Earthion pins you to your chair and drags you into space, fires chiptune music straight into your brain and blows your eyes out with pixel art of sublime quality. There is a new King on the Mega Drive, and the crown belongs to Earthion by right.

6 / 10.0 - Wild Hearts S
Aug 3, 2025

There is no doubt that Nintendo Switch 2 is not the best place to play Wild Hearts, whose most "playable" version is still the one for consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

If we bear in mind that this is a low budget production, it is clear that the money went first and foremost into making a fighting game that would be playable in a competitive setting. That is not to say the HxH characters are just a "skin"; quite the opposite, painstaking work has gone into recreating the characters' Nen techniques, which are immediately recognisable and enjoyable for a fan.

4.5 / 10.0 - Griffin
Jul 22, 2025

Were it not for the low price, Griffin would be hard to recommend to anyone at all. Its one redeeming point is the accessibility of a product whose original Game Gear version, in CIB (complete in box) form, can go well beyond several hundred euros.

Front Mission 3 Remake is, all things considered, an excellent product, by virtue of the fact that it stands on the shoulders of a giant. This reissue is lacking, there is little to say about that, but it is also a great way to enjoy a flagship title from the most creative era of the Japanese giant.

8.5 / 10.0 - The Alters
Jun 15, 2025

One of the game's trade-offs lies precisely in managing the Alters. They have needs of their own and, since they represent different "realities" and sides of Jan's own personality, they will not necessarily get along. In a sort of distorted, emotionally brutal version of The Sims, The Alters pushes us to keep an eye on our clones' moods, trying to meet their requests and keep conversations positive.

8 / 10.0 - Blades of Fire
May 28, 2025

Recommended to all fans of action-adventure games who want to try something different and certainly more original. One word of warning, though: if you are not used to a design that is less "guided" than similar modern titles, you may find Blades of Fire frustrating, since it asks the player to explore the levels very thoroughly.

The game includes over 100 Gundam to unlock, and every character from the Cosmic Era series makes an appearance, whether for a single mission or as wingmen obtainable after completing specific missions. During some of these the player can also make choices that alter their alignment, pushing them to take on missions for Earth or for the ZAFT faction.

5 / 10.0 - Captain Blood
May 13, 2025

The first few hours can even be fun, but once the initial impact wears off the game starts to struggle. And then, like a broadside fired from a ship full of drunkards, Captain Blood's pacing leaks from every seam.
