An enjoyable enough adventure through Warhammer 40K's dark future that never quite manages to exhilarate you.
Two Point Hospital is a triumphant return to the fun and frantic style of Nineties management sims, with the adorable visuals to match.
Everything I hoped it would be and more. Marvel's Spider-Man provides us lots to do, a great story, and some of the best visuals available on the PS4.
There's so much to like about Rebellion's squad shooter that most of its negative points cease to matter very much. It's not perfect by any stretch, but it's a confident romp by a developer that knows its audience. If nothing else, I've rarely played a game with so many explosive barrels per square meter, and that's a definitive win in my book.
If you've been waiting for a true follow up to Dragon Quest VIII or just have been craving a massive JRPG with a gorgeous world, this is the game for you.
Veterans may jump at the chance to lap this up all over again, but new players hot off the back of World may struggle to find their feet.
There's a chance the trial & error nature of the bosses will put off some people, and the run-time is certainly long for the genre, but The Messenger is a staggeringly good game and a shining example of a big risk paying bigger dividends.
One of the best PC RPGs of recent years loses a little of its shine on console, but remains a fantastic experience throughout.
The gameplay is solid and the combat is weighty, with some decent platforming physics to boot. I enjoyed its sumptuous visuals and the inventive design of some of its creatures and characters.
This feels like a golden age 3DS game. I hope patches address the Switch version because portable play definitely works best for these kinds of games. The PS4 version based on our time with it is a lot better in terms of visuals, performance, and load times
If you're looking for big changes you won't find an abundance of them, instead it's a refined experience in every way, with tighter controls and and the finest visuals to date within the Yakuza franchise.
Everything about Guacamelee! 2 oozes charm, from the slick, responsive gameplay to the art and music. The difficulty has a tendency to rocket up now and then, although overall it's not a particularly difficult game. If anything, the jumping feels ever-so-slightly tighter this time around, and the huge array of moves and abilities, once mastered, make for some truly exhilarating platforming. Beautiful, bonkers, and brilliant.
As someone who's been waiting so long to play them once again, and knowing Shenmue III is on the horizon, playing the original games on current gen and PC is something you should certainly do because they provided so many firsts for video games.
This is easily the best the series has ever been, in both gameplay and presentation. Fans will love the realism, newcomers will enjoy the benefits of the assists and the ever-present rewind function (it's wonderful for correcting your mistakes and learning from them), but everyone can simply enjoy a good race.
I enjoyed the idling moments between missions when I felt like the director of a secret team of spies almost as much as I enjoyed directing the spies on the ground, and the overall experience is one I'd recommend to any fan of turn-based tactics or cold war skullduggery.
Perhaps given another few months, We Happy Few could have been great, but as it is it's simply a missed opportunity.
State of Mind offers few thrills among its twists and turns, yet the world it constructs feels worthy of investigation. It's a shame, then, that you're not free to explore it more. In fact, you're an observer for much of the tale, but thanks to some bold ideas, the game is compelling enough to hold your attention even if it isn't always as dazzling as you'd hope.
If you can take the difficulty on the chin, you'll experience a broad range of top-notch puzzles, that are well-executed and overlaid with a cheeky, playful tone. Rolling a ball around around a level shouldn't be this much fun.
Whilst the gameplay is drastically improved to give the best Football yet, some technical issues in the story mode, along with repetitive practice scenarios mar the overall experience.
Overcooked! 2 is everything I wanted from a sequel to one of the better couch co-op games out there with online multiplayer, varied levels, recipes that drive you mad, and more.
