I really, really wanted to like Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, and when the game lets me run wild and focus on building momentum and stringing together parkour moves, I genuinely do. Then I'll be forced into some mandatory combat section or forced to sit through a monotonous cutscene and the entire game just grinds to a halt.

It is a game with potential, but its frustrating game design flaws prevented it from being a 'must play'. I felt there was a bit of confusion as to the direction the developers wanted to go, as they couldn't quite marry the point and click and action adventure genre together. There is a lot to explore and the ability to play as different characters, point your finger at multiple suspects and use Holmes's abilities to piece together clues is great, but the action sequences and lack lustre storyline (until the very, very end) really let the game down. If you are a Sherlock fan and can overlook these flaws then you will enjoy the variety and new detective abilities offered in this adventure, otherwise maybe give this one a miss.

The size of the world in E.D: Horizons is actually astronomical and that vastness of space is what makes this game great but at the same time is its disadvantage. It’s incredible to travel around this massive unexplored unknown but at the same time once you have gotten a good grasp of the controls, have all the ships you need and attained a rank where money and reputation are easy to acquire the desire to go out into the unknown is very little as there is not that much to actually do there now. It is true that Horizons gives us the new option of being able to leave your ship and explore the planet surface in your SRV (Surface Recon Vehicle). Which will add more hours to your experience as can mine or explore but even if your find settlements or outposts you are still restricted to your SRV and in the end the things you can do on a planet is quite limited. It would be great to be able to get out and explore a bit or even build your own outpost on a planet.

Episode 3: Marrakesh is entertaining but it doesn't build upon the brilliant Sapienza mission!

With a lot of different side missions and player challenge runs, Mirror's Edge Cataylst has some things going for it, even if it limps along on some points. This is one you will either like a lot or have a real dislike for. It lets us down in some fronts, and delivers in others but overall, Mirror's Edge Catalyst can be a fun ride, and may be worth your time but just be ready on what you get!

Despite the negative press around it, I came to Homefront- The Revolution with an open mind and fully prepared to not let review bias affect my impressions. Unfortunately, it appears that the complaints were valid; the game is spectacularly broken in a way that very few games can get away with and offers very little redeeming features to justify playing through it.

At the end of the day, One Piece: Burning Blood is another fun instalment of this series that features a decent collection of playable characters that is cemented with a sturdy gaming engine. Sure, it may not be as realistic as some other fighters but it delivers with the entertainment factor, provided you're a fan of the anime genre. Additionally, One Piece: Burning Blood is a game that can be played by anyone and with practice, you'll soon be a master of the pirates with some deadly fighting skills to help plunder against your villainous opponents!

2.2 / 5.0 - Neon Chrome
Jun 5, 2016

In case it wasn’t obvious, I really didn’t warm to Neon Chrome at all. The eighties inspired aesthetic of the opening cinematic promised big things that the mediocre shoot-em-up that the game ended up being failed to capitalise upon. The controls aren’t as responsive or intuitive as a game like this demands and the lack of refinement in almost every area leaves players with a hollow gaming experience that quickly outwears it welcome. Co-op can make the whole affair slightly more entertaining but only offering local multiplayer and completely disregarding the almost prerequisite online component seems to me to be a massive misstep on the part of developer 10Tons.

In the end, The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine is a worthy addition to this franchise that once again makes you appreciate what an amazing game CD Projekt has created. Unlike many games that feature a static world or those that use smoke and mirrors, The Witcher 3 is quite dynamic and it feels like a living breathing universe and Blood and Wine really expands on this.

Ratchet and Clank packs a sentiment and graphically stunning punch, but remains imperfect beneath the surface.

If you're a hardcore Fire Emblem fan, this collection will give hours upon hours of unbridled gaming fun and if you're really keen, you have the option of playing it through again in order to experience the other side of the war. Furthermore, this game is beautifully presented on the 3DS that comes with a very cool steel book and a great art book featuring some amazing artwork from this universe.

4.8 / 5.0 - Overwatch
May 29, 2016

At times Overwatch does feel like an old school multiplayer shooter but Blizzard has a knack of taking something classic and making it better. The gameplay is fun, the characters are diverse and really make you think, especially when their your enemy!

3.1 / 5.0 - Shadwen
May 29, 2016

At the end of the day, Shadwen is merely a passable effort, which is quite surprising considering Frozenbyte are the minds behind the immensely enjoyable Trine games. Although the central gameplay conceit is interesting enough, it’s unfortunately never fully realised and the myriad of glitches and AI issues hamper what, with a little more polish, could have been an enjoyable stealth/action romp.

4.5 / 5.0 - Doom
May 21, 2016

In the end, Doom is a worthy successor to the original and although there was mixed reviews of Doom 3 way back in 2004, id Software should be praised on not only paying homage to the original but successfully rebooting the franchise on high-end consoles and of course the PC. Sure, it's a little old school at times but that was also the beauty of the original and if you're looking for a fast paced first person shooter than Doom is the game for you. Even though the game is quite linear, there's plenty of secrets to be found which definitely gives you incentive to either explore all the levels totally or play the game again, so Knights of Hell beware!
