Battlefield 1 is the greatest addition to the franchise since Bad Company , and its lone sequel, pairing its beloved 64-player combat with an innovative new take on the single-player campaign. The stories told within can definitely be a bummer at times but it’s rare that we felt anything but positive about our time with Battlefield 1.
Shadow Warrior 2 probably isn't going to win any Shooter of the Year awards, but that doesn't mean you should skip out on the latest offering from Flying Wild Hog either.
Compared to other PSVR experiences that I’ve had so far, Battlezone still is one of the best games available right now. It’s actually a fully formed game, not some shoehorned VR experience in a different game or a boring shooting gallery like many other VR games currently on the market.
All things considered, the first expansion for Dark Souls 3 is kind of a letdown, particularly if you don’t enjoy fighting other players.
The game won't appeal to everyone, particularly those without the patience to slog through its repetitive missions. But a fantastic story, and a refreshingly unique approach to telling that tale, ensure Mafia 3 will have imitators for years to come.
Dated Presentations And Lacking Features Make This A Disappointment
It is sandbox gaming on rails, giving players just enough freedom to deserve its genre placement without exposing them to an overwhelming array of resources and recipes. Gating some content behind the game’s narrative progression may irritate those with substantial genre experience. But the system provides a streamlined sandbox experience for those of us with less time; a design philosophy that clearly sets Dragon Quest Builders apart from the competition.
Gears of War 4 maintains the same tight third-person shooting mechanics we’ve loved over the years, along with everyone’s favorite: chest-high walls.
When the puzzles start getting more complex, they don’t really get harder, they just get more annoying to complete.
Destiny: Rise Of Iron won’t make believers out of those offput by the base game’s rough edges. But it proves The Taken King wasn’t a fluke.
You seriously need to play Firewatch. It's a five-star game, and an experience I will remember for a long, long time. Now that there's been a release on Xbox One, nobody has an excuse to miss out.
While anyone will be able to enjoy the Telltale Batman series, it definitely feels as if you need to have at least a decent understanding of the basics for this interpretation to really make an impact. Fans of the Dark Knight will love the ways the traditional story is being twisted and turned here, but those not so familiar may not quite know why things are as important or shocking as they may seem
If you like puzzle games and haven't played The Witness, now's the perfect time. If you're curious at all about it, definitely give it a try. If you know you do not care for puzzle games or something as slow-paced as The Witness, be sure to steer clear for your own sake.
Despite the issues, I do still recommend people pick up ReCore. With a lower price, fun gameplay and an original IP, this could be the start of a trend for a revived mid-tier level of gaming, once found prominently on the N64 and early PlayStation consoles.
When all of these modes sit on such a solid base of good hockey gameplay, it’s easy to have fun however you choose to approach NHL 17.
With Fallout 4 ending development now that Nuka-World is out, it’s good to see it going out on a high note. While the ending may drag for a bit, getting to explore all the hidden wonders of Nuka-World is some of the finest gaming Fallout 4 has to offer.
Overall, Mankind Divided is frustrating. There are so many cool game mechanics and interesting story ideas that I wanted to know more and keep exploring every bit of the world. The voice acting and meandering story made me want to shut the game off and do literally anything else. If you are a fan of Deus Ex , you'll probably have a fun time, if you haven't played one before, I'd give this a pass.
It’s an incredibly apt description of No Man’s Sky, and by this standard the game is a tremendous success. There are have been many, many moments where the sensation of alien wonder and sci-fi awe has overwhelmed me playing No Man’s Sky. But while I own and cherish anthologies of sci-fi covers (The Art of Michael Whelan is sprawled open somewhere nearby), reading the actual book is always preferable. No Man’s Sky is all cover.
While still enjoyable, as the credits were rolling, I still wanted a little more. Thankfully, Telltale is already hard at work on Episode 2, which should be coming next month.
As the penultimate Fallout 4 DLC, it’s nice seeing Bethesda treat Vault-Tec Workshop more like the Automatron DLC than a Workshop one. The added storyline was a welcome addition to what would otherwise be another collection of new craftable objects to play around with. Oh yeah, and Clem is just wonderful.
