The Outerhaven Productions's Reviews

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Avowed. Obsidian has crafted another fantastic RPG, and while it does nothing revolutionary, the quality it shows across board make it a joy to play. A game I would highly recommend to any RPG fan.

Big Helmet Heroes is enjoyable solo or with a friend. Its wacky weapon variety and ever changing setting keeps things interesting when the gameplay begins to wear a bit thin. The 28 different discoverable heroes offer a reason to playthrough multiple times, unfortunately its technical issues may make it a one and done adventure.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II capitalizes on the gameplay of the first game. It also enhances the animations and the effects of the predecessor.

Starlight Legacy is a solid turn-based JRPG with its inspirations blended in perfectly for a fun and engaging experience.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. keeps the AM2 crafted experience as smooth as it can possibly be while bringing in a few welcome changes to base game. With Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. being at its core a simpler game to get into in terms of no frill mechanics, there is the deeper need for understanding the technicality, which in turn intensifies the challenge. Despite all the improvements brought in from 2022's Ultimate Showdown, some of the nuances are still lingering such as the weekly tournament. R.E.V.O. does bring new updates to the table in finding a way to bring the fighter back to PC since Virtua Fighter 2's 1997 port. Thanks to Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., the world can see what's instore for the series going forward and this makes the wait enjoyable for new and older players alike.

Rift of the Necrodancer successfully transitions the core tenets of the Crypt series to the Rhythm game genre delivering highly amusing and fun gameplay melded with its rocking soundtrack. Paired together with a more defined cartoony art style, silly pun-filled writing, and just enough gameplay variations to keep you playing again and again. Rift has the potential to become a franchise all on its own.

Cuisineer has a very addicting gameplay loop of delving into dungeons and finding resources and ingredients. It does suffer from some of the choices made for enemies and the restaurant aspect.

As someone that has played the previous titles in the franchise, Sniper Elite: Resistance is highly enjoyable. If you haven't played the series before then this one isn't the best starting point.

Eternal Strands shines in its innovation and creativity, but it stumbles in execution at times. For fans of action RPGs who value experimentation and unique gameplay systems, this is a journey worth taking—even if it’s not without its rough patches. Eternal Strands is a strong First Effort from Yellow Brick Games.

Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos is a short game that doesn't play badly but isn't worth the price of purchase. I was saddened at the lack of Live 2D models and short play time but the charm of Neptunia is still there.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is an amazing experience and story that rides the experience from the first game well. There can be some technical hiccups with the free movement features, but it doesn't lessen the experience in combat.

Mouthwashing offers a top-tier sci-fi horror story with themes and symbols that will likely stay with you long after your journey aboard the Tulpar. The gameplay is passive and repetitive, but those craving well-written characters and story content should appreciate their time in the captain's chair.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the series returning to a war simulator that adds a lot of tension with pushing your army closer to the enemy as a focus. The morale system comes back, but you are no longer able to play as any character you want.

Clock Tower: Rewind turns back the clock as it gives players a look at an influential horror game from the 90s than few in the west got to play. Even with updates, it's still a bit cumbersome. And yet it's dripping in dread and atmosphere and has style as sharp as oversized scissors.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is still a solid game to play today and the remaster makes it a much more accessible experience.

Fantasian Neo Dimension is a great love letter to JRPGs, particularly ones that come from creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's past such as Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy. Its characters weave together a story worth experiencing with a battle system that accentuates it by providing enjoyable yet challenging turn-based fare. Wrapped around it all is impressive hand-crafted dioramas and the last full soundtrack from the legendary Nobou Uematsu, Fantasian Neo Dimension should be experienced by any JRPG fan.

Mario & Luigi Brothership is a welcome return, and succeeds far more than it fails. Its heartwarming story mixed with solid battle mechanics will keep you engaged for some time…even if it goes a bit long in the tooth near the end.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a wonderful game to play and will have you on the edge of your seat. That being said, if you don't enjoy some light survival elements and more simulation based shooting. This one probably isn't for you, but if it is your cup of tea… you will lose hours to it.

Fairy Tail 2 was a fun and addicting time with great animations. It still suffers from choices made during the first game, but it is still a good time for Fairy Tail fans.

Marvel Rivals is a game that puts fun first. Playing as one of Marvel's huge and not-so-huge characters is a lot of fun, with stupid things like Rocket Raccoon and Jeff the Shark being fun to play. As I'm a Venom main, I love that I don't need to study a meta guide to jump in and have fun. If Marvel Rivals keeps fun at the core of its gameplay, then it'll be a hit for years to come.
