The Outerhaven Productions's Reviews

If not for the sheer beauty that is the creation suite, I almost guarantee you that I couldn't recommend you stay away from The Golf Club 2019 fast enough. The physics are way off, and for those who have played golf titles in the past, this is a travesty of epic proportions. I hope the next title sees some fixes, including the inclusion of real-life PGA golfers. The Golf Club 2019 is purely an exercise in mediocrity wrapped up in a nice bow. Yeah, this game is disappointing.

Omen of Sorrow is a fighting game I can only recommend to those really looking to experiment with something new or are really big fans of horror. The combos are fun but are kind of shallow and get repetitive really quickly. The mechanics are pretty standard and can be fun but the lack of translation to new players kind of ruins them along with actually playing certain characters.

While not perfect, The World Ends With You Final Remix is still a testament to how great an RPG can be with simple graphics, intense combat, great story and characters, and so much more. The new content brings a lot to the game, including a big tease for what may come next! So don't miss out, get this title now!

Save Me Mr. Tako! is a wonderful title that holds all the qualities that made the old-school retro Gameboy games what they were. The monochromatic visuals and retrograde audio tie the whole ensemble together in this call back to an older era of games. Yet, frustrating and drab level design act as a counterweight to all the positives the game has to offer. The fun factor is just a bit lacking as a result.

The culmination of four years' hard work, WWE 2K19 is like Daniel Bryan's initial run in the WWE: four years of ups, downs, triumphs, failures, criticism, praise. But one thing truly stands out, and that is the hard work that it took to get to this point. WWE 2K19 is the best WWE game since SmackDown vs. Raw 2007. The necessary changes to gameplay that were made this year truly help this game to stand out the way it was supposed to. MyCAREER is now a complete mode, and WWE Universe is fun again. When push comes to shove, WWE 2K19 could be considered the magnum opus of the WWE 2K era of games and is indicative of what's to come in the future.

Life is Strange 2 is entirely separate from the it's predecessor in terms of story and characters, yet it manages to capture the same atmosphere that makes the series so special. It isn't always subtle in its message, but the game is a powerful story about injustice and family all the same.

While I didn't think Playground Games could do it again, they absolutely have. Not only does Forza Horizon 4 surpasses their previous entries, but the addition of dynamic seasons helps to push longevity of the game and is well done. Tossing in a huge selection of cars and fun-filled challenges, this game does not disappoint. A game for both car lovers and gamers who love going fast, even if they're sideways while doing it.

Fire Pro Wrestling World is a love letter to professional wrestling, but only to the most hardcore of hardcore fans. If you enjoy the deep customization suite – despite the lack of efficiency that has plagued the series, something that WWE 2K aims to fix in WWE 2K19 – and the opportunity to have nearly one-thousand created wrestlers in your game, you'll find hours of enjoyment baked into the action. However, if you're looking for something accessible, quick to get into for a quick match or two, search elsewhere.

Torna – The Golden Country is a worthy prequel of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and will change how you view the main game and the “legends” that are told in it. It improves many things and only has a few flaws that set it back from being on par with the original. A fun game for sure and one that I highly recommend to anyone who played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or enjoys a good RPG.

Mega Man 11 brings back that classic feel while giving it a fresh new look. The boss fights are memorable and challenging while the stages are thematic and very fun to play. While the game has a couple of flaws, Capcom still did an incredible job trying to recapture the nostalgia while bringing Mega Man into the HD generation.

In the end, Rigid Force Alpha is a fun SHMUP. Sure, it doesn't reinvent the genre, but it nails the basics, provides a hell of a time and that's all any SHMUP can do. For being the first attempt from Com8com1, it shows that they've really listened to the SHMUP community and provided easily one of the best indie games I've played in a while.

Dark Souls: Remastered is everything you remember from the original game, with a slicker coat of paint. The same great gameplay, annoying enemies, challenging bosses, now with a higher framerate. If you've never played the first or want to dive back into the world of Lordran, then Dark Souls: Remastered is calling your name.

Hands down MARVEL Spider-Man is one of the BEST games I have played all year. Within moments of swinging out into the streets of New York I was hooked. From there the game took me on a wild ride that I wished would not stop. Loaded with references to other Spider-Man games, the movies, TV show, Cartoons and of course the comics; MARVEL Spider-Man is the ultimate comic book video game if not 2018 Game of the Year… Fight me!!

With Crystal Dynamics taking a backseat for the 3rd outing of the rebooted Tomb Raider, Eidos Montréal has stepped in. No stranger to the Tomb Raider world, they have managed to take everything that worked so well for the rebooted series and has perfected it. Perhaps the best title in the series, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a shining example of taking the best of the rebooted series, improving on it and letting it speak for itself. Talk about going out with a bang.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 makes it's triumphant return to home consoles and PC with outstanding results. The addition of new features, a new class and story adds to the tale of the Europan War. Offering a perspective as the Atlantic Federation, you will experience another side to this story. While this coming-of-age story isn't radically different, it still tried and true story that you will appreciate. Stay for its rainbow cast of characters and situations that Squad E gets into. Maybe you will laugh. Maybe you will cry. One thing for certain, it is good to have you back Valkyria Chronicles. Here is hoping to SEGA that we get another entry in the future.

SNK Heroines -Tag Team Frenzy- is a fun game to waste some time with, however, the lack of optimization on the Switch port might turn off some players. It's a silly game, there's a lot of fun to be had, but the unsteady frame rate when in handheld mode coupled with the fact that the game CAN reach 60fps docked, but just doesn't is extremely disappointing.

Blade Strangers is a fun and charming 2D fighter that is readily open for any kind of player to enjoy. Whether you're a newcomer to the fighting genre or a hardened veteran that instinctually whiff punishes anything. Everyone can play this game and appreciate the obscurely, iconic roster of characters and stages that Nicalis and Studio Saizensen have given us.

We Happy Few is a game that promises to be one hell of a good story drive ride from start to finish, but what we got was something that is so full of bugs and crash issues that it completely ruin the experience. Frankly We Happy Few needed to spend more time in development than it does being played. When something like this starts on Kickstarter, sometimes it just need to stay there. We Happy Few’s story is a highlight and should be an animated film more than a less-then-playable video game.

Yakuza kiwami 2 shows exactly what happens when a good story meets good gameplay… Perfection. You’ll spend hours of your life playing the main game, then another half of your life just doing the exciting and awesome side missions and distraction events. Any game that makes taking a piss into an action filled experience deserves the highest of praise.
