Battlefield 1 still offers players something that they can’t find anywhere else and this installment is without doubt the best looking Battlefield game yet. Partnering up with a squad of mates and methodically taking over points on the map truly immerses you in a very dark and gruesome war. Whilst the campaign may be short but sweet, the multiplayer modes are as strong as ever.

4 / 5 - Halo Wars 2
Feb 20, 2017

All in all I really enjoyed Halo Wars 2 despite the minor issues it has, most of which can be fixed by upcoming patches. If you enjoy RTS games, Halo Wars 2 is worth your money.

4 / 5 - Dishonored 2
Nov 21, 2016

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Dishonored 2, it is the kind of game that when you finish it you can easily play again as the other character and have a totally different style of game. You could probably blitz through levels quickly, but you rarely will be, Arkane does so well to draw you into all the little subtleties of Dunwall, you end up caring about the choices you make, which leads to a really enjoyable game.

All in all Horizon is a fun game, there is loads of content and the story is engaging. However, there is a lack of personality in the side missions as they all follow the same tropes and become slightly boring. The best thing about Horizon is the world in which you play.

4 / 5 - F1 2016
Aug 21, 2016

Although the game can sometimes get a bit technical and the race weekends can be quite long (about an hour or so for a short weekend), we think F1 2016 is great fun. With so much content to jump straight into there is no way you could be disappointed with this game. The game gives you a very real Formula one experience, almost akin to the real thing.

It’s a bit of a cliche but there’s no doubt that Resident Evil 7 is a return to form for both Capcom and Resident Evil itself. It’s horrible, grotesque, and panic-inducing, but I love it.

4 / 5 - Overcooked
Aug 17, 2016

Overcooked is a fun game that you can keep coming back to again and again. Couch co-op means you can play with a multitude of different people, giving you endless fun. The only part of this game I didn’t enjoy was when I was playing on my own. You definitely need to get a couple of friends over to enjoy the game fully. At £12.99/$16.99 this game is a steal and definitely worth your time with a few friends.

In terms of pure gameplay, Pro Evo takes the crown from FIFA. The subtle improvements made to last years version have been thoughtful and impactful to the way the beautiful game is played. PES 2017 is, arguably, the best football game ever created.

4 / 5 - Virginia
Oct 2, 2016

Virginia is a really intriguing story, one that I just couldn’t put down. Although I wasn’t sure on what was going on all of the time, the dramatic devices used within the game really made me want to find out the ending and what happened to the characters. Virginia’s play time of around two hours for £7.99/$9.99 is perfect, and it’s well worth a couple of hours out of your day.

Batman: Arkham VR is a short but lively experience and I wanted to keep going and finish it in one sitting. While it’s hour length may put some off, it’s not everyday you get to be Batman, and an hour in Batman’s shoes will convince you that your expensive headset, is worth every penny.

4 / 5 - Yakuza 0
Feb 7, 2017

For newcomers, Yakuza 0 offers enough to make it a worthwhile purchase with over a hundred hours worth of content. For those returning to the series, apart from a new story, you’ll be walking a similar path to what’s come before, which, depending on how fatigued you feel from the past games may be a good or bad thing.

There’s no doubt that there’s an audience for Mantis Burn Racing. It’s a neat little top-down racing game that’s great for the pick-up and play nature of the Switch. It’s let down by a lack of variety and personality but don’t let that put you off if you’re a keen racer and own a Switch.

4 / 5 - Yooka Laylee
Apr 3, 2017

Yooka Laylee brings the classic 3D collectathon platformer into the modern age, although not without camera issues. Despite that, it takes what made past 3D platform games great and puts it on a larger scale with substance.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has problems when it comes to its moment-to-moment gameplay but its attempt at pushing the boundary in mechanics, interaction and narrative within an open world that’s one of the finest ever crafted, almost more than makes up for its faults.

4 / 5 - Semispheres
Feb 13, 2017

Semispheres’ puzzles are really fun to get into and you will definitely find yourself wanting more once they are complete. The intrinsic nature of the game really is it’s drive. It was a shame that although the story was quite interesting to go through, it just seemed like a byline to the puzzles. This was the only thing stopping me from giving this game top marks.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin, it was witty, it presented a challenge and – most importantly for a VR title – is comfortable to play. For owners of PlayStation VR looking to justify their headset purchase and an enjoyable game, look no further than this.

4 / 5 - Fast RMX

4 / 5 - Snake Pass
Mar 27, 2017

It’s charming, relaxing and can also provide a challenge. Snake Pass is a wonderful game to get lost in for a little while and if you can pick it up on the Switch, you’ve got a title that is great to play on the TV and on the go.

4 / 5 - RiME
May 24, 2017

It won’t present much of a challenge but RiME is a delightful experience from beginning to end. It urges you forward at every turn and while there are minor technical issues, it’s a wonderful game that most should explore.

Mr Shifty is a frantic top down brawler at a staggering pace. Great on the go and with a suitable price point, Mr Shifty is a strong candidate for your next Switch game.
