Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged promises near-endless fun, especially in multiplayer showdowns. Still, it rides in the slipstream of its predecessor, more akin to a turbocharged DLC than a groundbreaking sequel.
Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is the perfect Xbox Game Pass game as it’s not for everyone, but still worth checking out. It’s full of fun and quirky minigames and if you have a good sense of rhythm, you can finally show the world who’s the boss of the pigeon coop. Sadly, the online issues plaguing the game at the moment make it hard to recommend as I’ve personally walked away from it with a ton of frustrations.
Warioware Move It! is the perfect party game to play with your friends if you want to show what the Switch’s motion control is capable of. It’s a ton of fun to discover the various minigames and find out just what’s expected of you, but in the end, the novelty will run thin and it doesn’t take long to have seen everything the game has to offer.
Detective Pikachu Returns tries to bring a jolt of excitement to the Pokémon universe through great visuals and lively animations. However, its shockingly simple plot and low difficulty might leave more seasoned gamers wanting more. If Phoenix Wright + Pokémon is a combination that sparks your interest, then be sure to whip out your magnifying glass and detective hat!
Warm Snow is one of the best rogue-lite game experiences of 2023.
PAW Patrol World is a fine game if you have kids who enjoy the show and love to spend time collecting items and helping people in need. The camera brings the biggest frustration to people who are used to playing such games, but for kids, it’s a wonderful introduction to a more open-world approach and they’ll be having fun for hours.
Child-friendly controls and clear explanations mean that any age can win. In conclusion, Sisters 2 – Road to Fame is a great party game when you have friends over. The single-player adventure mode is a surprisingly large experience but is plagued by dated visuals. It certainly has some cuteness and nice details but seems straight out of the Xbox 360 period. Which of course does not affect the enjoyable gameplay. However, the adventure mode quickly became too much and I just went to the quick-play option to play the mini-games. A game like Sisters 2 increases my yearning for a new Fuzion Frenzy. If you’re looking for something similar, you’ve come to the right place with this game.
Great potential but comes a bit short in the end.
Bangingly good is how I describe Bang-On Balls: Chronicles!
I expected more from Forza Motorsport glorious return. More content and some additional novelties perhaps? Either way, it’s a great racing experience with overwhelming visuals and sound. Turn 10 has delivered a very good game that will only get better with time.
Lies of P surprised me in the best way possible and has perhaps become the first of many soulslike games I will invest countless time into, really drawing me into the gameplay and design of challenging combat. Apart from the troublesome collisions during combat, I have had – and am still having – a blast with Lies of P and think many will say it shares good qualities with other soulslike games; perhaps being one of the better additions for those who are yet to try out the sub-genre? The gameplay is fluid, the audio is admirable, and the visuals look marvellous. Not to mention the thrilling combat and relief that comes with defeating bosses. Without a doubt, a great addition to the soulslike genre and one I would recommend to almost everyone.
Party Animals is great to play with friends online or locally. I had fun playing with all the silly animals but the physics got me a bit annoyed. This will be a game that will remain on my Xbox to play between larger gaming sessions!
Project Planet – Earth vs Humanity is a uniquely creative take on party games, where the moral superiority of environmentalism can be weaponised in some of the worst ‘what if’ scenarios and humanity can show the best, and most likely the worst, of themselves in the face of certain doom. While its current state seems to favour its storytelling and derived player drama, it still offers enough variety and complexity to keep a few rotations of players entertained during an evening. Backstabbing your friends for the benefit of everyone else still feels great!
Starfield has completely captivated me on multiple levels with its stunning graphics, solid combat, engaging storyline, and immersive characters. Even with its restrictions on exploration, Starfield is one of the best RPGs on the market that will satisfy you for hundreds of hours to come. This may just be my game of the year. I highly recommend anyone to try Starfield for themselves.
A fantastic addition to the series – Diablo IV is a masterpiece that has given me plenty of enjoyment and still has plenty to give with constant updates and new content being added. The game wasn’t without its fault but the positives outweigh the negatives. If you’re looking for a new action-adventure RPG with heaps of replayability to sink hundreds of hours into, I wouldn’t look any further as I believe Diablo IV will satisfy that urge and keep you coming back for more.
Verses of Enchantment is a fresh take on the deckbuilding genre that uses poetry to create powerful spells. The artwork, poems and overall presentation deliver a coherent experience that is incredibly fun to play through once, but is not likely to keep you busy for hundreds of hours.
Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara is a carefree and wholesome platformer with lots of sights to see, shiny things to collect and optional speed runs to challenge yourself. It’s a balanced platformer that’s sure to scratch that collecting itch, wrapped in a neat island adventure package.
Street Fighter 6 is an amazing fighting game that does almost everything right and is filled to the brim with extras. You’re most certainly getting your moneys worth with this one and it’s incredibly hard to put down. Hadou-ken we play again?
Amnesia: The Bunker digs deep into your fears. From the moment you step foot in the bunker, the immersive atmosphere grips you like a vise, ensuring your heart rate never resurfaces until the final moments.
Road 96: Mile 0 takes a bold detour, blending rhythm gameplay and smart storytelling, but it left me with mixed emotions. I’m happy to have gotten more insights in the backstory, but it only ended up answering questions I didn’t really need answers to.
