9 / 10.0 - Pragmata
Apr 27, 2026

Pragmata is a lot of fun to play, and the more I play it, the more it drags me in. It’s a game that’s hard to put down thanks to the big boss fights and the sombre, bass-heavy music that sets the perfect tone for a lunar adventure. While the combat takes some getting used to and can be a challenge, the verticality and exploration pay off if you take the time to scope everything out. It’s a high-quality sci-fi trip that shows exactly what the Switch 2 can do when it’s firing on all cylinders.

Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster is a cracking update to a legend. It’s a lot of fun, and for me, it’s best in short bursts because of the motion sickness, but I love every minute I feel ok. They’ve treated the source material with real respect while adding in all the modern bells and whistles you’d actually want. If you want to experience Kyle Katarn’s start in the best way possible, this is it. Just keep an eye on that snappy movement if you’ve got a weak stomach.

A top-tier pixel art adventure that rewards your curiosity, even if the lack of a proper map marker and accessibility hold it back from greatness.

Go in thinking of a good indie game and not a highly polished triple-A game, and you will have a brilliant time. This isn’t shade or hate, it’s just setting expectations. Honestly, the performance is the only real letdown here; the scope and gameplay are top-notch, but it just stutters along and takes the fun out of it. If you can handle the later levels tanking the frame rate, the shadow-shifting and level design make it a standout stealth title. This is my favourite game of the year so far.

Saint Slayer: Spear of Sacrilege is a fantastic, gritty throwback that proves 8-bit style still has teeth. It’s a brutal, rewarding, air-punching experience that captures the NES era perfectly without being a total copycat. If you can handle the pixel-perfect jumps and the lack of checkpoints, it’s a must-play.

Little Nemo Guardians of Slumberland is a brilliant trip back to a dreamworld that feels both fresh and nostalgic. It hits that sweet spot between a chill platformer and a rewarding Metroidvania, even if the candy-loss mechanic makes me want to shout at the screen before coming back for more. It’s a lot of fun, the bosses are clever, and the whole package is wrapped in a fantastic art style. If you want a game that keeps you on your toes while looking adorable, this is a dream worth having.

Whispike Survivors is a solid, addictive little auto-battler that gets the “just one more go” feeling right, even if it’s rough around the edges. The dual-platinum potential and the fast-paced action make it worth a look for fans of the genre who want something quick to jump into. It’s held back by a lack of variety in builds and some seriously frustrating boss balance, but the core loop is satisfying. If you want a cheap, punchy survivor game to kill an afternoon, this plant-based massacre does the job.

Sword of the Necromancer is a tight, atmospheric action RPG that doesn’t overstay its welcome. The mechanic of turning your foes into your friends is brilliant and keeps the dungeon crawling fresh every time you find a new monster to resurrect. It’s a game that rewards you for being aggressive, but gives you the settings to tweak the difficulty if you don’t want to lose everything on death. If you want a hack-and-slash with a grim twist and plenty of loot to upgrade, this is a journey worth taking.

7.4 / 10.0 - Beyond Words
Apr 21, 2026

A dangerously addictive word-smithing time sink that proves the pen is mightier than the sword, even if it won’t let me use my favourite swear words.

The game is excellent when I’m actually playing it, making some meaningful strides forward for the genre with the weapon storage and health management, but it still gets stuck in those old-school shortcomings, and I just don’t think about it once I walk away. It nails that punchy arcade atmosphere, and the cell-shaded look is top-tier, but between the tedious boss repetition and the horridly frustrating final encounter, it lacks that lasting hook to make it truly memorable after the credits roll.

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is a decent return to Nosgoth that looks great, but it’s bogged down by repetitive levels and a story that talks way too much without saying half as much as the classics. It’s got the grit, but the flat narrative and annoying platforming stop it from being truly legendary.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is a proper Sega celebration that looks stunning on the new hardware. The CrossWorld dimension swapping keeps you on your toes, and the sheer amount of characters, with more like Nights and Minecraft on the way, is massive. It’s more of a challenge than Mario Kart, even if the AI cheats like mad sometimes, and the track transitions can chug. It’s a fun, tight arcade racer that rewards the grind for Donpa tickets without asking for real cash. Not quite as addictive as the classics, but it’s a true great for the series that every Switch 2 owner needs to check out.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits on the Switch 2 is a total cracker despite the few technical niggles and fiddly controls. Its presentation and general atmosphere are that of a Disney film in many ways, and I lost so much time to the game as I just got absorbed all over again. Despite finishing it before, I can never say no to another run through. It’s a vibrant, engaging adventure that looks and plays brilliantly on the new hardware. If you want to see the land restore life and colour while playing with your customisable Rot squad, this is a must-play. Just be prepared for a slow start and some awkward camera moments when the action gets heavy.

7.6 / 10.0 - Trash Goblin
Apr 10, 2026

While it has some sluggish controls and a loop that can feel a bit thin when you’re too prepared for customers, it’s a proper relaxing time. It’s got that “one more day” pull if you just want to scrub some junk and make a bit of coin without any pressure. If you want a hand-drawn zen experience and don’t mind the mouse-style cursor, it’s a solid bit of fun.

Maintains all the charm and playability of the original games, but the move to 3D brings a whole new challenge. The levels are well designed, and the mechanics are simple but devastatingly painful to pull off. It is a very difficult game, so be warned, and it is very reflex-based. I had a lot of stressful fun, and it’s the type of game I come back to here and there when I feel like feeling like a failure. If you want a 3D platformer that rewards precision and punishes mistakes instantly, this is it.

It’s been a long time since I finished a game and then immediately went back to play it again. Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is totally sorted and a massive win for fans of the flick. The pixel art is proper boss, and even though the lack of multiplayer is a bit rubbish, the carnage on offer is top-tier. Playing as a bug is a godsend for the motion sickness, and the whole thing is just brilliant fun. You’d be a total melon to miss this one. Get it bought!

9.4 / 10.0 - Pokémon Pokopia
Apr 2, 2026

Pokémon Pokopia is a total time-sink that will destroy any free time you have, think Animal Crossing daily chores, but they don’t ever end! It is a game that encourages you to play how you want, whether you’re digging deep into the ground or building up high. Between the massive Pokédex, the Habitat dex, and the constant supply of daily challenges, the game gets very addictive as you try to find everything. It’s accessible, it’s deep, and finding underground shortcuts or new Pokémon by accident is a proper buzz. If you want a game that you can just lose yourself in, this is the one. Pure quality.

8.2 / 10.0 - ICARUS
Mar 30, 2026

It is a technically impressive game, both in looks and in depth. I really like the text and menu structure, although it is not always easy to use, it looks the part. It is really impressive how much data and gameplay are in here, and it still maintains a high-end looking interface and story. While the performance has its issues and the lack of a pause button or proper text sizing will sting, the loop of dropping in, harvesting, and building through those massive mission trees is addictive. It feels like a proper big-budget survival experience, even with the rough edges. If you can handle the jank and the tiny text, there is a massive alien world here waiting to be conquered.

7.4 / 10.0 - Homura Hime
Mar 26, 2026

Homura Hime is a volatile mix of swordplay and bullet hell that creates a hypnotic rhythm for any action fan. While the massive difficulty spikes during boss fights and the heavy reliance on reflex-based parrying can kill the momentum, the flashy combat and responsive controls keep you coming back. It’s a world where every strike carries weight, and even if you’re just button-mashing, you’ll look like an absolute badass doing it. A solid, stylish 3D brawler that survives its own chaos.

8 / 10.0 - iRacing Arcade
Mar 12, 2026

iRacing Arcade is my new go-to racing game because it hits that perfect middle ground between precision and arcade driving. It looks gorgeous with its cartoon-style 3D tracks and offers a career loop that feels rewarding as you level up your motorsport HQ. While the lack of tuning and automatic-only gearbox might annoy the hardcore sim crowd, the pure fun of the handling makes this a must-play.
