Cerealkillerz's Reviews

Need for Speed Payback wants to be the Racer for everyone but does nothing really well. The core elements of the series are broken down to pieces with microtransactions and grinding-systems and besides a decent soundtrack nothing stands out in Payback.

6.7 / 10.0 - Sonic Forces
Nov 8, 2017

An average storytelling, bad controls and a boring level design make it hard for Segas Hedgehog to climb back on the Jump N`Run Olympus. If you're looking for a quick and fun game you'll still get something out of Sonic Forces.

Doom runs really well on the Nintendo Switch besides some recurring framerate issues when you encounter more enemies. If you can live with a missing snapmap editor and a reduced graphic performance you'll definitely have some fun on the go. If you wanna play it mainly on a TV you should stick with the other versions of the game.

8.3 / 10.0 - Call of Duty: WWII
Nov 5, 2017

Call of Duty WW2 is an uncomplicated and extensive recollection to the roots of the series that fights with some major technical problems and an unexciting campaign. If you're looking for some long-term motivation in the multiplayer part of the game you'll get the best COD since Black Ops 2.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is a successful Expansion of an amazing game that could have used a bit more variety and is sadly making the same mistakes from the main game. The great balancing and the new challenges will still entertain fans of the game in the usual quality and offer new replay value.

8.5 / 10.0 - A Hat in Time
Nov 5, 2017

A Hat in Time shows how to make a spiritual successor right and besides some reduced length and the shortcomings from that fact, this game doesn't need to hide behind the big players in the genre. If you're looking for a Super Mario substitute on PC you'll have a great time.

6.5 / 10.0 - Oure
Nov 1, 2017

Oure tries to be much but delivers next to nothing. The repetitive gameplay and the blunt overall picture make it hard to recommend this game despite the low price. The setting had some potential but because of the boring implementation of it you should steer clear of this game.

Assassin’s Creed Origins offers besides some technical issues a brand new adventure with a functional open world. The new action rpg elements haven't been implemented that well but are definitely a step in the right direction and are supported by a great interface and upgrade system.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is a solid sequel with small technical issues that not only builds on the great foundation that The New Order created but improves on it with an even better story and gameplay adjustments. Fans of Singleplayer-Shooters have to get this game.

9.5 / 10.0 - Super Mario Odyssey
Oct 25, 2017

Super Mario Odyssey is not only a return to the glorius days of the N64 era but more like a big leap forward from there. A modern masterpiece but manages to get the mix betwen tradition and new ideas just right with a lovely game design.

AER: Memories of Old is definitely the most delightful adventure of this year. The soothing atmosphere and caring world of the game will entertain you very well. Sometimes there could be a bit more interaction with the world and some challenges but if you can live with that you'll get a well made Indie-Adventure.

7.5 / 10.0 - Gran Turismo Sport
Oct 22, 2017

Gran Turismo Sport delivers a solid racing experience but can't keep up with the competition this year and suffers from the lack of a career mode and a questionable game structure for the series. If you expect a beautiful and beginner friendly racing game, you'll still enjoy it.

8.1 / 10.0 - Just Dance 2018
Oct 22, 2017

We give Just Dance 2018 a rating of „8.1“, just like last year, since barely anything changed. The only visible change is the Kids option, which is nice, but if I really want to keep a child busy, I might as well use the adult version for that since every single word that is even a tiny bit offensive has been cencored out anyway.

7.5 / 10.0 - WWE 2K18
Oct 19, 2017

Altogether, WWE 2K18 ultimately fails to deliver on the promises made by 2K Sports, barely changing things at all. The problem with My Career is that it needs to be the focus for all players, who plan to stay with the game for a longer time, but its still dull and repetetive, making it too boring over longer periods of time. Carrying your opponent around in the ring is fine and the minor changes in the My Career Mode at least shows us that the developer admits the mode needs further improvement, but in the end it needs even more of that. Nice try 2K, but better luck next time.

Fire Emblem Warriors offers a solid hack and slay expierence and performance on the New 3DS. Even if the story won't surprise you that much, the solid cast of the series will. The mix between these two very different genres is well made and fans from both sides will get great time out of it.

6.7 / 10.0 - ELEX
Oct 17, 2017

If you're a RPG or Gothic Veteran you will find some enjoyment in the story behind Elex. Besides that everything else is so faulty and inaccessible that we can't recommend the game to anyone else. The terrible sounds and animations combined with the clunky gameplay make it hard to keep on playing this game.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole comes with the quality you'd expect from the show and besides some repetitive Riddles it delivers a solid South Park Experience and an entertaining story. Tactical RPG Fans will miss some challenge and some more thought out upgrade mechanics would've been nice but it's definitely the funniest game of the year.

The Evil Within 2 delivers a solid horror performance that suffers a bit because of poorly designed open world spaces. Psycho-Horror Fans and people that like abstract art will still get what they came for but it doesn't feel like an improvement over the first title.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War wants to be too much at the same time and ends up (besides a greatly improved Nemesis System) in a repetitive mess that doesn't shine in terms of story and graphics. The integration of the Lootboxes doesn't effect the game as much as we expected but it still shouldn't be in a Singleplayer title to begin with. Fans of Lord of the Rings still get to see some of their fan favourites and the gameplay this time is really solid.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar would've had potential to be surprise hit but fights with some of the worst technical problems this year and doesn't deliver a very gripping story. If you can live with constant crashes and broken cutscenes you'll still get a solid turn-based jrpg with a nice Darksiders feel.
