Atelier Ryza is an excellent addition to the Atelier game series. A fresh new world, complex crafting system, and a new real-time battle system all work together creating a very compelling game. Combine that with the traditional Atelier heartwarming story as well as a magical setting and you have a JRPG that is well worth your time and money.
The Outer Worlds takes you on a unique space adventure of your own making, allowing you to rebuild a whole system from the smallest of details. You can be yourself from every choice to every build, branching out to experience unique interactions and perks from companions. There's no game out there quite like The Outer Worlds, and you should not miss out on the ride.
Children of Morta combines all the best bits from rogue-likes mixing a compelling story, unique character playstyles and making the game really enjoyable to play. Non-rogue lovers shouldn't be deterred as this game has plenty to offer and soon will have you hooked on it's quirky family members and addictive gameplay.
Borderlands 3 is an OK game. The shooting and the looting is mostly good with just a few niggles here and there. It could have been a good game, possibly even a great game, but is held back by a truly abysmal story.
Disco Elysium is certainly not a game for those that are faint of heart, but if you have a sense of humor, and you're looking for a breath of fresh air then Disco Elysium is a must buy game. If it doesn't make you laugh out loud a time or three, I'll ride the Cock Carousel.
Code Vein is not Dark Souls. It lacks the polished combat and stellar world design of the legendary franchise. However, it makes up for these things with it's brilliant character customization, a deep narrative with twists and turns, and Skills and Abilities that challenge the player to defeat enemies in a way they never would have thought of before. On top of that, the cooperative multiplayer should keep you playing well after you've finished the game, and adds significant value to a game that was already worth the price tag. If you're a Dark Souls fan, Code Vein is a must buy game!
The Surge 2 picks up where The Surge left off and inches forward in both quality and execution. If you are a fan of the previous title you will feel right at home, and I highly recommend it. Even though it has its flaws, it does enough to warrant a purchase if you enjoy Action RPGs, and is likely the best Action RPG (that isn't an expansion) until Elden Ring sometime next year.
Blasphemous is a mostly solid action platformer. Beautiful yet grotesque artwork and fun moment-to-moment gameplay is held back by a few instances of badly flawed level design and some questionable boss mechanics. If you can get past the flaws there's a lot to enjoy here for fans of platformers and for lore hounds that enjoy teasing out meaning from a cryptic story.
Loot, shoot, cast magic, melee and slay strange creatures in the mysterious island of Teer Fradee. If you enjoy making plenty of choices from narrative decisions to combat builds you'll enjoy your time in GreedFall. While it doesn't do anything ground breaking, this title will offer you a decent storyline, a number of playstyles and the option to choose your party. For those looking for a well-polished title, they may want to look elsewhere, but Spiders has created plenty to experience with many of hours of gameplay. Even after 20 hours you will find there is still a lot to discover.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is a sizeable, satisfying addition to the base game, expanding the content and scope while adding welcome quality of life features. Welcoming to both new and veteran players, low and high geared alike, the expansion steps up the challenge but gives the right tools for players to progress, and provides countless hours of content in a new and addictive endgame mode. It is absolutely worth the price.
Fast-paced action tied in with an intriguing story about a secret organisation which you will need to explore and discover it's hidden secrets. Visually detailed with polished fun gameplay, combining telekinetic powers with shooter combat. A playthrough could take 10 to 15 hours or more depending on the level detail you pay. A full thumbs up for this one.
Remnant From the Ashes is bound to be a polarizing game, much like Dark Souls was when it first released, and I highly anticipate scores to swing wildly from outlet to outlet. Players may find that their first playthrough is not what they had hoped for, and they might write the game off because of this, and I nearly did so myself. However, there is much more to Remnant than it appears, and the deeper you dig, the more you will find that the things you loved about the Souls series are present, just in smaller quantities.
A very fun 2D brawler with a striking art style, marred with an interesting story told very badly. Between the custom combos, the scoring system, and the hard optional dungeon there is a lot here for $15.
Attack On Titan 2 Final Battle as a whole is pretty solid improvement in the series allowing players to experience the story through different point of views while letting them roam free in other modes. Players will enjoy experiencing the thrill of slaying titans in their dream squads. The lone barrier to this game will be the pricepoint of the expansion for those who already possess the base game.
The Sinking City invites all the horror of a lovecraftian tale, with the balance to know more of what is happening in the city of Oakmont, all the while as you struggle to keep your sanity. There are quite a few places to explore, cases to take on, and discovering all its secrets could take you a while. If you're looking for a game that doesn't spoon feed you the answers and are looking to challenge your investigative abilities, this one could be for you. While not perfect visually, with bugs here and there, gameplay is enjoyable and brings a mix of combat and deduction. Definitely worth the price tag.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a love letter to Castlevania. If you have any interest at all in the Metroidvania style of games, you cannot go wrong with this title.
Dragon Star Varnir is a dark tragic fated RPG that covers the struggle of the Witches of Varneria as they search for a way to break their fate. The character designs are alluring along with their fitting outfits. Players can easily find one or more that resonates with them. If you're in the mood for a dark game with enthralling girls, you might like this title.
A Plague Tale Innocence does well to explore a plague ridden story and include entertaining game mechanics which makes it unique. Some improvements to certain visuals and mechanics could have made the experience a little smoother, but overall the environments are detailed. The story really shines through such a grim setting along with some memorable ratnado moments. A playthrough could take you 10 hours or more depending on your gameplay strategies and whether you choose to discover all collectibles.
The gameplay, while addicting and fun with others, is bogged down by a real lack of motivation to keep playing.
Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland is a sublime pastel explosion 3D turn based RPG that successfully melds slice-of-life with adventures. It has a alluring musical score that accents the game's world and lovable characters that you'll grow fond of. If you're in the mood for a game that fits in the spring and summer relaxing vibe, try this game.
