Days Gone deserves your attention if you are a fan of the zombie "genre". If you've ever watched I Am Legend or 28 Days Later and thought "I wish there was a game like that!", then you definitely need to play this game. Days Gone is a nice blend of open world and story driven that few games offer, "zombie" or otherwise. For 60$ USD you get 30-60 hours of this type of gameplay, which I feel more than justifies the price tag.
Good ideas and interesting systems held back by clunky combat and the occasional bad design decision, Outward is an RPG for a very specific pallet. You will either really like it, or find it insufferably aggravating.
The Darkside Detective is a entertaining point 'n' click that combines imaginative characters and witty dialogue. Not to be missed for it's creative storyline, variety of puzzles and eerily intriguing soundtrack.
Sekiro is a great realization of a fantastical Shinobi journey, with challenging but rewarding action-packed gameplay and intricate level design that encourages exploration. Sekiro stands on its own next to acclaimed Souls titles and puts FromSoftware on the action stage with a flourish. At first you hit a wall, then you become the wall the game hits against, and it feels wonderful.
DMC5 is a worthy return to the main stage for action games, delivering unparalleled gameplay executed beautifully and with consistent, remarkable performance. Fans of the genre will love this title, and newcomers are likely to become fans.
Anthem is an excellent Iron Man simulator bogged down with poor mission design set in a fascinating world with a lack-luster story. Coupled with a critical lack of end-game content, this is by far the weakest offering from BioWare. Enjoyment of this game will fully rest on how much you enjoy the combat.
A game for anime JRPG lovers, Death End Re;Quest delivers a good story with plenty of choice and exploration, with a beautiful design backdrop. Providing a good rpg system with plenty of replayability and multiple endings, the game is good value for fans of the genre.
Non-stop, tense horror adventure that delivers on its promise of keeping players on their toes as they navigate the corridors of the game, avoiding enemies and preserving ammo as you must in real survival. The graphics revamp and musical score make the game seamlessly fit into 2019, and we believe the experience justifies launch day buy.
Call of Cthulhu is a unique creepy horror detective RPG that takes Lovecraftian inspiration to a new level. It may not compare visually to current AAA games but does well to provide a captivating narrative and a mix of methods to keep players drawn in such as puzzles and stealth. One playthrough takes anywhere between 12 or more hours depending on your level of attention to clues and your detective abilities. Would recommend a second or even third playthrough to truly find out all the hidden secrets.
Red Dead Redemption 2 only gets better and better as you progress, and although I'm not entirely sure Red Dead Redemption 2 is the game to beat in 2018, I do believe it is at the very least in the conversation.
If you're someone who has already played Dark Souls on console or PC, the experience will not really differ in docked mode but being able to take the game anywhere, may provide you with some newer Dark Souls memories.
Solid Storytelling following outstanding historic events immerses players into a beautiful rendition of ancient Greece. Assassin's Creed Odyssey improves on its predecessors by providing seamless character selection and more advanced rpg elements, without compromising on its accessibility to action-focused players. Even if sometimes overwhelming in scale and possibly repetitive for those not completion-oriented, the game is worth full price given its polished delivery of unabashed entertainment.
If you're someone who loves exploring worlds, fast-paced energy-ball action, challenging puzzles and a compelling narratives that will keep you captivated for hours, then this could be your next RPG.
Immortal Unchained takes elements of From Software titles and successfully incorporates them into a sci-fi shooter. Unfortunately, the other aspects of the game are not as well thought out or executed, leaving one to wonder what could have been. If you're a Souls fan, who also enjoys the occasional shooter, definitely check out Immortal Unchained and absolutely pick it up when it's on sale. At $45 USD this game is a slightly overpriced.
Beast of Winter is a nice addition to already amazing Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. It will keep you hooked, even through some annoyances for those 5-6 hours, to explore everything and learn about stories told. However, ultimately it feels rushed and a missed opportunity to do something much bigger and impactful with the Harbingers and Vatnir, who are the biggest positives of the DLC.After finishing Beast of Winter and resuming your Deadfire adventure, only Vatnir and his occasional monologue will remind you of the DLC, while everything else will feel like a distant memory...
I definitely look forward to more Dontnod games, while this one was enjoyable in some parts, if you're looking for a game that has a good combat mechanics you might want to steer clear of this one.
A wonderful trip down memory lane, in 4k and 60FPS. Engaging combat, thrilling multiplayer and intriguing lore make Dark Souls Remastered a worthy purchase for veterans looking to polish their backstabbing skills; and a mandatory buy for those who never got around to playing the original 2011 release.
Ni no Kuni II managed to capture the charm and wonder that keeps RPG fans coming back to the table. Stylistically, the game manages to balance cute and serious for an all around fun ride. Surprising depth of gameplay will give completionists plenty to explore. Easy access to core features allow more casual players to enjoy most of the game as well. Level-5 does a tremendous job with optimization as well, avoiding the typical RPG pitfalls of long lectures and load screens.
Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings is a delightful 3D turn based RPG that successfully melds slice-of-life with fantastical environments.
Overall, Attack on Titan 2 is an improvement from the first installment of the series. This game will be enjoyed by fans as well as newcomers. I hope the game gets the attention it deserves. I hope to see continued growth as this video game series develops. My hope is that further entries will have more replayabilty and improved audio.
