For this review, I played the collection on the Switch and the game ran smoothly, with no frame rate drops or any visible problems. This is a fully functioning port of a series of classic games that runs as it should as soon as you fire it up.

When you break it down, there is nothing in Atlas Fallen we haven’t seen before. Everything it does, someone else has done in another game. That being said, what Deck 13 have done is bring these elements together into a rollicking adventure that hits all the right notes for action fans, tells an engaging (if cliched) story and never outstays its welcome.

The minimal amount of interactivity required meant that sitting down to play Stray Gods was more like sitting down for a movie night than anything else – though I do agree that visual novel is the best label for it. And if we’re judging it as a visual novel, I think it’s got a lot to offer – far more than it does as a ‘roleplaying musical’.

I feel like the challenge is perfectly balanced, the combat is immensely satisfying and the technical prowess on display is a wonderful achievement. Gunfire Games has, without doubt, put out one of the best games of the year and I expect this to be talked about come GOTY time.

Halo Infinite had huge expectations to live up to. 343 Studios had yet to nail the entire Halo package and its much-publicised delay must have had the Xbox executive team worried. A world-spanning epic with a meaty, varied and satisfying strategy battle system. While it takes a while for the steam engine that is Disciples: Liberation to pick up speed, once it’s off, the journey is well worth taking.

Far Cry 6 is both exceptional and surprising. It gave me more than I ever could have expected from the franchise and has redefined what a Far Cry game can be going forward.

Metroid Dread is a truly exceptional return to the spotlight for the franchise and Samus Aran. Having been somewhat lost in the wilderness for the better part of a decade, the pair of Nintendo and MercurySteam has worked wonders for the franchise. Some balancing issues erode at the unbelievable foundation of the game, but dread about the future of Metroid no longer, Samus is back in style.

Big Rumble Boxing is a love letter to Rocky and Creed that should make for great party gaming fodder. There isn’t much for solo boxers but for punching on with friends there is a lot of fun to be had.

t’s extremely charming, and completely captures the Iyashikei ‘slice-of-life genre, particularly in the personality of the town’s characters and how they interact with one another, yet also beckon you into that same world.
