SingStar Celebration makes use of the new PlayLink app with a bunch of new songs.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2’s exploration and cheery disposition, the beauty of the animation and its embracing of Marvel’s wackier moments, more than outshines these moments of despair.
A fun but ultimately limited quiz game that’s a great way to entertain guests for a few hours.
Get past some of the poor design ideas, which feels more like an EA intervention than anything else, and there’s a really solid, fun arcade racing game here that’s highly enjoyable.
Unfortunately, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is let down by the stifling progression system and a disjointed main campaign.
Piranha Bytes sticks to what they know best, providing another distinctly Gothic-like RPG, for better and worse.
Sonic Forces is one of the most charming and addictive entries in the series to date. With plenty of colorful energy, a great new character creation feature, and catchy soundtrack, it ultimately won me over in the end, despite its flaws.
The Escapists 2 is a fun puzzle game with a unique premise, and while the game could use a more detailed tutorial system, once you invest the time to learn the different systems you will be rewarded with a fun mental workout.
Call of Duty: WWII is a superb return to form for the series, and the best addition to the line-up of Call of Duty games since World At War.
Overall, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a great sequel that once again demonstrates MachineGames' mastery of combining fun, fast-played gunplay with a serious narrative and complex characters. Is it as good as The New Order? In terms of mechanics and visuals, even better.
At the end of the day, AC:Origins is an intriguing game. The extra time has allowed the developers to sort out some technical issues that have plagued the series while also adding in improvements. The story, however, is nothing new or fresh, and the structure has not evolved beyond the now familiar Ubisoft open-world recipe.
Overall WWE 2K18 is a fine example of a good wrestling game. It looks amazing, but just lacks enough improvements overall to really stand out among the current crop of 2K’s beyond those good looks, unfortunately leaving it short of being quite like no one.
With crisp and colourful visuals, a soundtrack that mixes traditional and modern music scores and out of this world boss battles, Super Mario Odyssey is a milestone in both the highly acclaimed Mario franchise and gaming history in general.
Performance and controller nit-picks aside, Pinball FX3 is a solid pinball simulator with an impressive amount of content, only let down by the inclusion of overbearing progression systems and annoying UI design.
GT Sport is a bold direction for the series, one that many may feel at odds with. Having spent a substantial amount of hours with the game to this point I can say its grown on me. Players looking for the same old Gran Turismo experience will be left wanting, but if you embrace the multiplayer you will find hundreds of hours of top-class professional online racing.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a good game buried beneath some crassness. The mechanics are perfect for newcomers and veterans alike to the turn-based JRPG-inspired gameplay, and while the story isn’t as good as it should be it holds the space between battles together nicely.
I never really got into Shadow of Mordor the way many others did. Shadow of War, however, is another story entirely and is definitely one of this year’s games that you should not miss.
There is no other game in this genre with the amount of post-game content that Dragon’s Dogma offers. All in all you are looking at an easy 100+ hours of content if you are new to Dragon’s Dogma, as a complete package this is incredible value for money and easy to recommend to new or returning players.
Despite a fairy short playtime, compared to other Lego games, Ninjago is the most fun I’ve had with a Lego game since Lego Dimensions came out.
While the story isn’t as tight as you’d expect from a major Fire Emblem game the over the top shonen style battles and mixed cast definitely put together a fine show. I can definitely suggest the game to any fan of either series.
