Rise & Shine is a action packed side scroller with challenging puzzles and enemies.
Battleborn is a ton of fun to play, and is unabashedly a Gearbox game, in visuals, moment-to-moment gameplay and humor. Much of the PSVG team has been playing it recently, and we have largely given it our seal of approval.
Well worth the small price of admission if you like stories
The sunlight cuts through your slumbering daze like a razor blade. Your surroundings are unfamiliar. How did you get here? Where are you supposed to go now? A stranger approaches with a request, no, a statement. You have much to do, so much to do… No! This isn’t the recovery of a wild Friday night, this is “Alwa’s Awakening”! It’s time to embark on a quest!
Subterrain is an ambitious title that just missed the mark for me, but missed it in a big way.
Unfortunately this is a video game and when the game is almost unplayable nothing can save it.
Gameplay: This is where the game shines for me, it harkens back to the old turn based combat I used to love so much, while it doesn't always work in modern day gaming, I enjoyed Earthlock. Instead of having meters fill up to let you know when your character was getting ready to make their move there is a string of icons to the right of the screen showing who is coming up next whether it's you or the enemy which allows the players to strategize as to what needs to be done next. (should I heal now or can I make it until the next round, etc) The leveling up system allows players to customize the characters to how they want to play, focus on close or long range combat, is defense more important than attack, etc. The game does require some old-school grinding at points though in order to be a high enough level to tackle some of the bosses otherwise you will die, a lot. The only thing i didn't care for in the gameplay was the ability to help your enemies, for instance there was a few times while using my healer when trying to select the right person to heal I would accidentally heal my enemy, I know it's dumb it's my fault but just something that annoyed me. However if you heal a ghost enemy it does a large amount of damage, and if you hit a stunned ally it'll snap them out of it so it is utilized as part of the gameplay.
Watch_Dogs 2 is what happens when a developer takes feedback, criticism, and all the great parts of its first try, then flips it and turns it into something just short of a masterpiece.
Do you remember waking up early on a Saturday morning? Your parents are still asleep, you stumble downstairs into the kitchen and make yourself a huge bowl of whatever sugar rush providing cereal you can find. Plunking down in front of your television set, the sand fading from your eyes, the vibrant lights of cartoon action and wacky sounds engross your attention. With each bite you fall further into the void of childhood bliss. This familiar childhood dimension is where Bleed 2 resides.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Linelight and think it is a must-play for puzzle game fans. It is relaxing, rewarding and well worth your time.
There’s nothing quite like it (especially on a 3DS) and for that reason it was easy to keep coming back. Missions are ideal for portable play and in my time with the game, the affinity for Steamworld Heist grew larger with each mission passed. My only real faults with Steamworld Heist is I find movement overall too slow and the game does become repetitive by the end of the campaign.
Horrifying experimentation. Death-defying leaps of faith. Buzzsaws of DEATH. These are the challenges that await you in “Splasher”, a new platformer available now on Steam from SplashTeam.
If you have the need for speed, cruise your “wave” over to this Thunderous racer!
If you are a fan and still play retro: worth your time, it's very faithful to the series, almost too much If you are not: probably pass on this one, you'll just be angry.
My biggest problem with the game stems from the nagging feeling that I was lucky in completing many of the levels. Figuring out a level isn’t exactly taxing on the brain, as the solution is readily apparent once you understand the mechanics of the game. Your success depends purely on your ability to execute quickly. But many times, I found myself doing the same thing 15 times in a row, only to finally grasp the goal through what felt like luck.
Orwell takes place in a country called the Nation, led by a modern-day authoritarian government known as The Party in the capital of Bonton. In 2012, the Party passed the Safety Bill, a law expanding the government’s ability to spy on its citizens in the name of national security. As part of the bill the Ministry of Security, led by Secretary of Security Catherine Delacroix, commissioned a covert surveillance system code named Demiurge (later renamed Orwell). Orwell allows investigations into the private communications of people of interest, but doesn’t allow any one person full access. Instead, Orwell’s operation is run by two groups; Investigators, persons outside of the Nation working for the government who search through the communication of target persons and upload items of interest (represented as “datachunks”), and Advisors, people inside of the Nation who use the received datachunks to determine the course of action and to recommend actions to the authorities.
Super Bomberman R for Nintendo Switch feels incredibly overpriced and I’d have a hard time recommending the game over many of the other Switch launch games. You’re better off to wait and find one these in the bargain bin this upcoming holiday.
Specter of Torment is a thrilling return to form that leaves me more excited for the next chapter in the Shovel Knight saga.
Sublevel Zero Redux is a great example of why we have come to love independent studios. The Sigtrap team attempt to bring something fresh and new to the often “too-similar” first person shooter market and the experience is worth taking a flier on.
A great video game that delivers on style and gameplay, has broad appeal, and it's available at a great price - What more do you want? These types of games are perfect for portable, on the go play sessions and it looks wonderful on the big screen TV as well. If you have a Nintendo Switch, buy this game. If you don’t have a Switch, put it on your wishlist for when it arrives on a console near you.
