Truthfully an amazing experience and this will be the second game for me, which if I can get amnesia and forget all about the playthrough, just to feel it again, I’d totally go for that. I can, without a doubt, recommend Hellblade to everyone. It’s definitely one of those rare gems out there on the market that I am absolutely happy to have.

7 / 10 - Fictorum
Sep 7, 2017

Overall Fictorum gets a 7/10, it doesn't feel like a full release, more of an early access build of the game. The music feels underdeveloped, alongside the battle maps that are repeated too many times with boring mountains above the clouds. Spell customising can be quite fun, with on the fly control of how you use your mana and runes.

I’ll keep it brief, Pillars of Eternity is a masterful love letter to old school RPGs, making it an absolute must buy for adventure connoisseurs.

The love and attention to detail from the developers, Ubisoft, Ubisoft Paris and Ubisoft Milan have made me smile, giggle, laugh, and enjoy my time in a world that they have created. I am not a huge fan of turn-based games, but what Ubisoft has done here with Nintendo IP's and their brand of anarchy the Rabbids, mold really well and I want more, a lot more.

If you enjoy a good puzzle game, Archaica will not let you down. It is detailed, it evolves as you play, and it poses a challenge to the player without losing its style. The game’s design in art, sound and indeed lighting is a pleasure to behold as you enjoy these aspects too. What you shouldn’t go in looking for however is anything too revolutionary. Whilst the presentation is fresh and new, the ideas are traditional as puzzle games go. This doesn’t let the game down, but it is worth bearing in mind when you decide what price tag the experience is worth to you.

Overall, Ark: Survival Evolved gets an 8/10, it was and still is a great game, with the new additions to the game and changes it has seen a vast improvement. However, it still has a big problem, glitches, and optimisation, with many claiming it has not improved since day one. Early Access, Alphas, and Betas are meant to be the time you make a game stable, not add more stuff to break it.

Overall, Interplanetary is an exceptional game. Great gameplay, lovely looking visuals, even better music and challenging AI. Interplanetary's USP of combining physics, gravity and orbits into artillery fire pays off extremely well, providing an experience that is compelling and rewarding.

Rather than the first season where Episode 2 dropped the quality down, this just keeps holding the quality and adds some. In a surprise twist, I’m giving this chapter an 8, and a pat on the back for keeping me engrossed.

8 / 10 - Vostok Inc.
Aug 28, 2017

Vostok Inc. juggles a lot of styles, and manages to pull them all off well just above average. The sum is not always greater than its parts but in this case the sum is much greater. If you find some spare coin, and want a game about making coin back then Vostok Inc. is for you.

As much as it kills me, I’m hooked on The Pillars of the Earth’s story. There are two more episodes and if they build a story as well and fill it full of great characters I’ll definitely play it, as much as it tests my patience.

It might be better to consider ICY as more of a Visual Novel with RPG elements rather than a story-driven RPG. While I enjoy the story despite the lengthy text boxes the RPG fighting and collection appeals to me. Execution is marred by out-of-place textures and fonts as well as an overall lack of final polish.

Overall a simplistic game for some mindless fun that contains a robust modulation system and completely open source API for the community to use, the developer has even held Modding competitions since it’s release. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this little run n gun shooter and will likely return if any new mod pops up that interests me.

To put it simply, Children of Zodiarcs is a fantastic, challenging and hugely enjoyable tactical RPG; however, a lack of variation in its gameplay stops it from being so much better. Each battlefield, though simple, is a tremendous task to navigate round and conquer, with each mission asking more from you than the last.

Overall it’s a game that aims itself for a particular audience and while I’m part of the hack n slash part of that audience, I’ve grown up from the days in which my teenage self would adore this game. I can’t get onboard with the abundance of sex jokes and barely legal advances upon the in game characters or even the strip teases mid fight.

The episode itself spans about 2 hours long, which I believe is longer than your typical Telltale episode, so I very much enjoyed that (think is something characterized for Batman, I do believe the game’s episodes were longer than usual, or maybe that’s just the feel I’m getting … but I believe they are, because Tales from the Borderlands had that feel … feel only, so I can differ). In any case, I will definitely be eagerly awaiting what comes next in store for Batman…

So Masquerada is set in the Citte of Ombre, which has a clear Venetian feel too it's design and is divided by class. At the top are the Masquerada, with access to Mascherines, masks that grant their wearers magical powers.

7 / 10 - Death Squared
Aug 17, 2017

As much fun as I had with Death Squared it just seems a little bland when compared to the other big puzzles games available. It may sound harsh, but we can only know the quality of something by comparing it to its peers. And while Death Squared is certainly not the runt of the litter, it’s not the star either.

Super Cloudbuilt is a game for those who want a hard time and really test their ability. If you’re looking for a breezy stroll in the park, you need not apply. While there are a few things I would have changed, I really couldn’t recommend Cloudbuilt enough, even if you only have a passing interest in free running.

It has some cute quirks, both in style and gameplay but suffers too much from that cute approach to design. The season mechanic keeps some of the game fresh but locks some stuff away. Crafting is quick and simple, combined with an easy to learn trading system in place for items you’re wanting to obtain.

The game is trying to be something new in a world of companies just making MOBAs without much thought. There are some things that make the game interesting like the tag system and it’s overall style but they shoot themselves in the foot by having all these systems that aren’t that satisfying to deal with or can really put off players from sticking around.
