Box Knight is bloody good fun. It’s not the deepest roguelite I’ve played, and there are definitely areas where I’d love to see the developers push the game further. More dramatic weapon differences, crazier upgrades and greater build variety could take this from a fun little brawler to something genuinely special.

BioEden isn’t going to replace the biggest and deepest management simulators on the market, but that’s completely fine because it isn’t trying to. Instead, it offers a much more relaxed experience where the reward comes from watching something you’ve built actually make a difference. There is something surprisingly satisfying about taking a barren, lifeless planet and slowly turning it into a functioning ecosystem filled with wildlife.
I genuinely didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I have. It’s still a Soulslike, which means it is still going to make me angry, still going to kill me repeatedly and still going to make me question why I’m voluntarily doing this to myself. But unlike some Soulslikes, I actually want to keep going. It takes the formula, removes some of the things that make it unnecessarily frustrating, adds its own ideas and delivers one hell of a sequel. Now, if you’ll excuse me, there’s a boss waiting to kick my arse again.
The Adventures of Elliot The Millennium Tales is an amazing strong RPG underneath its limitations. The combat is fun, the world is stunning and well designed, and the visual design is genuinely impressive. When everything clicks, it feels like a modern take on classic RPG structure done right. For me it felt like going back in time to the release of Zelda.
Black Flag Resynced is exactly what a remake should be. It keeps what made the original special and improves everything else. For returning fans, it’s the definitive version. For newcomers, it’s the perfect introduction.
Gothic 1 Remake is a rare breed that actually respects its source material instead of trying to reinvent itself. It’s not perfect, and it definitely won’t suit everyone, but it delivers exactly what long-time fans wanted — and that’s something a lot of modern remakes fail to do.
Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 Broken Things is a good chapter overall—sometimes even really effective—but it feels like it’s still building toward something rather than delivering it.

But “not broken” isn’t a high enough bar in 2026. If you’re looking for a casual weekend distraction, Dragonkin The Banished is totally fine. You’ll have fun for 15 hours. But if you’re looking for your next 1,000-hour obsession—the kind of game that you think about while you’re at work—this isn’t it. It’s got the look, it’s got the bones, but it’s missing the heart.
