Where the Water Tastes Like Wine excels in its narrative, visuals and audio but really struggles to fit into the video game medium with its tedious gameplay. This is overshadowed by beautiful stories and moments of pure humanity.
The Darkside Detective is a short but worthy addition to your adventure game library, with endearing characters and references, wrapped up in an appealing art style and score.
Rick and Morty's trip into Virtual Reality offers the same humour and charm that Roiland pushes into the show. At times the limits of VR push against the game's creativity which can leave areas of the game feeling like a list of chores.
Shadow of War is like someone telling you a really exciting story, but they're so indulged in it that they trip over their words and you end up confused and you can't grasp the great magnitude of the adventure in their brain. Muddled but ultimately satisfying and fun, this is a gorgeous Orc pancake with a little too much sickly syrup.
Far From Noise is specifically designed for those wanting a contemplative, thoughtful experience. The story told is one of warmth and wit, asking existential questions, and exploring the meaning of life. For From Noise is a simple game, but one that asks not-so-simple questions.
Immortal Redneck is an old-school first-person roguelike with all the bells and whistles. It's tough but fair, fun and steeped in a silly aesthetic. Perfect for a reliable departure from your backlog.
Death Squared is an impressive use of the Nintendo Switch hardware and the first great puzzle game on the system. It's worth a punt if you're looking for fun puzzle domestics with friends or just want to embolden that home screen with a fun pick me up for your commute.
Absolver presents a brutal yet rewarding experience that gets going from the offset. Longevity is the titles main sticking point. However, with future updates looking to add to the game, it's worth sinking your fists into.
Disc Jam, a game that takes the design philosophy of Rocket League and mixes it with the core principles of tennis, has made it's way to the Nintendo Switch. Ace.
Injustice 2 is a very good fighter with a strong roster, engaging story and tons of content to keep you playing long past the credits roll. It does fumble the implementation of its biggest new mechanic - The Gear System - but even with the poor audio design and imbalance within the roster, it still manages to be a damn good time.
Figment is an elegantly designed title that offers an insightful look into the inner workings of what it is to be human. Travelling around the mind with Dusty is an absolute joy and definitely worth sinking your teeth into.
PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS delivers on the promise made by spiritual predecessors DayZ and Arma 3 with rivetingly intense, tactical gameplay that'll force you and your friends to think on your feet and watch each other's backs.
WindJammers is a totally radical 90s sports game that is a bunch of high octane fun with friends at home or in the frisbee gauntlet online. Master every cardinal direction and become the one true discus God!
The Crimson Court invites veterans of the game to experience yet another challenge, which can be a little bit too punishing for newcomers. Come on in, the party has just started.
Snake Pass is a formidable, acutely designed puzzle platformer with a unique twist, unlike anything I've ever played
Challenging for even the most experienced survival game player, The Flame in The Flood is a fantastic experience. Just don't expect it to be painless.
Voodoo Vince Remastered is a burlap bonanza 13 years later, providing nostalgia for fans and a fresh, compelling experience for those invested in the 3D Platforming genre. Come to New Orleans for the alluring art style and stay for the clever gameplay and sonically pleasing score.
Crawl is an exceptional multiplayer that takes a huge advantage of the Switch's portability. An unique game that should be present in all parties.
The Elder Scrolls Legends stands on its own two feet in the trendy genre of computer card games with its unique mechanics and consistent, surprising gameplay. If you're looking for a CCG with lore at its core and deck-building at its heart, give this free to play title a whirl.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a wholly necessary sequel to the first game, and a delight for fans of the TV show wedged inside a solid, feature-complete RPG with a few small issues holding it back. Whilst not as revolutionary as the first instalment, it still goes great lengths to deliver absurd laughs.
