Even though there are some technical issues, Ken Follett's The Pillars of Earth takes its place amongst my favorite games of 2018. It is a must-play for the ones who enjoy point & click games with a rich and intriguing story.
Only if the story was more unpredictable, that would be something unique. But it is still worth to give a shot and try it.
I can say that Surviving Mars should be expressing itself more clearly in the beginning since it is already a hard experience. If you are up to a high-pressure experience on the Red Planet, I recommend you to take a look at Surviving Mars.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 offers a unique experience with a hack'n slash co-op survival style. With beautiful graphics and music, it keeps you excited all the time. Various hero careers and weapons choices let you test different play-styles and makes it sure that you will play it for thousands of hours. If you like these kinds of games, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a must.
As a person who doesn't like platformer genre in general, I had a great time with this game. And, I would recommend trying it out if you think that this game might be a good addition to your collection.
Everything about this game penetrates right to my bones and I am afraid that it raised the bar for me even higher than I expected.
I've enjoyed All Walls Must Fall even if there are some issues which can be fixed and improved in the future. It is highly enjoyable breathing the synaesthetic nightclub environments of the game with big dudes who are ready to flirt and fight all the time. inbetweengames deserves respect by creating such a different and charming environment.
The Station is a must for the ones who carve for a decent atmospheric game with great story-telling. The Station may look like another space exploration game at one glance, but it is built on something very solid and at some point, maybe dark and challenging for our minds.
Play the game for tentacles' sake! Tesla vs Lovecraft has some negatives, yet it definitely brings out more than we've expected.
In the end, it made me realize that we need more of this, especially if you enjoy reading. Being a part of something you can read is a totally different experience and think of the joy when it is victoriously fictionalized.
SpellForce 3 offers a unique and well balanced mixture of both RPG and RTS elements. With good visuals and sounds, it is also satisfying to see and hear. It is possible to see a couple of bugs from time to time but the game is getting constant updates and it is getting better and better each day. Those who love RPG and RTS games should absolutely try this game. However, if you are too concerned about little details and bugs, you might want to wait a little bit more. But recommend playing this game when you have the chance.
Black Mirror offers a unique experience in a Gothic atmosphere with good graphics and good sound effects. It succeeds in taking you and putting you in a story and let you play as if you were a protagonist of a book. With the sound effects which will make the atmosphere more impactful, this game becomes a jewel. However, when it comes to the somewhat clunky camera movement, and a couple of basic gameplay problems, the game fails to keep the excitement alive. If you are an adventure game fan, you should absolutely try this game.
Beating Tartarus is no easy job, but it does not mean that Tartarus was not a great experience. I highly recommend Tartarus if you are up to some challenging puzzle adventure.
For turn-based strategy lovers, Ancient Frontier is a jewel. Even though it has a couple of flaws about the story and originality, the offers a fun experience with many well known features. However, if you are not a huge fan of slow, turn-based combat, you might want to look at something else. Otherwise, I recommend you to try it.
If you are still playing Starpoint Gemini Warlords, I highly recommend you to try out the Cycle of Warfare DLC since it brings so much to do and various gameplay styles to the main game.
I don't know why but I consider myself lucky for laying my eyes and hands on this game. A great effort and a game to admire, from my point of view.
There is so much which can be done and more time to spend on the game to make it better, there are things to fix and need to be changed, but I am afraid now I am addicted to ELEX. Ultimately, ELEX is a mash-up of the things we are familiar with famous open-world games like Fallout and Skyrim and an intriguing story which combines sci-fi and fantasy successfully.
I can say that Inmates is a very promising title and I can see a great effort in that work, but it feels unfinished and you can feel that it needs more time and effort.
HOB is a game which I was missing for a long time and I didn't even notice it until I laid my eyes on it. The game has a flawless gameplay with so much to unravel and show you. What's not to delve into the ever-changing world of HOB?
Being an action/adventure FPS with a procedurally generated universe and platformer elements, taking the risk of using the low poly style and lay a non-superficial story under all of it, and even shouldering the burden of creating a game whose fans are doubtful when it comes to generated universes? And keeping it all at a small scale which is oddly satisfying? Well, I call that nothing but success.
