PowerUp!'s Reviews
There’s a lot of entertainment in watching someone nailing a super double twist into a somersault while shooting two dudes in the head. Surprisingly, though, there’s just not as much fun in doing it.
Conan Unconquered offers a fairly unique and fun experience. The graphics are a little dated. The sounds and unit dialogue are amazingly cheesy and over the top and the campaign barely exists. However, unconquered solo and co-op mode offers enough variety and challenge to put the best strategist to the test
Blood & Truth is the absolute best of its kind and the definitive reason to own a PSVR. It includes showstopping gameplay, brand-new and amazing ways to interact with the world and never ceases to be more fun than it has any right being.
While genre diehards may lament Gato Roboto for being too easy, those looking for something more lighthearted may want to consider this charming little Meowtroidvania adventure.
Super Cane Magic ZERO is a joy to experience. Once you’ve accepted that you’re not in Kansas anymore, you’re in for a wild ride.
Golf Peaks offers some great puzzles and a nice distraction. It’s not flawless but it’s definitely worth the low price of admission.
Age of Sigmar Champions is a superb addition to the Switch’s library and while there are a few issues here and there, CCG fans will love it
For whatever visual blemishes show up, or for however far the third act strays, Observation remains a deeply fascinating experience.
Close to the Sun is a hugely ambitious title from such a small team. It doesn’t quite stick the landing but it’s a (mostly) great experience and one that sci-fi horror fans will enjoy.
You’re getting an excellent maritime combat simulator, a free history lesson and a look at some of the most impressive feats of engineering from the 20th century. How could you go wrong?
If you enjoy Tower Defence games at all this is a really great one, especially on the Switch. Though, it might not be the most accessible for newcomers
The Swords of Ditto Mormo’s Curse on Switch is decent but doesn’t quite stick the landing. It’s good in short bursts and may tide you over until Link’s Awakening, but it certainly won’t replace it
Yes, Total War: Three Kingdoms takes the Total War series out of the fantastical and back into the history books, but I’m so glad they did, because Creative Assembly are great at what they do – bringing history to life.
It's a masterclass in emotional storytelling and absolutely top-notch in making narrative and gameplay compliment one another
Masquerada Songs and Shadows is a great addition to anyone’s Switch library. If you’ve enjoyed games like Baldur’s Gate or the Dragon Age franchise in the past, love a good mystery story, and don’t mind a spot of button mashing, you’ll have a great time
Rage 2 feels like a game from 10 years ago and I'm still not sure whether that's a compliment or an insult. It's certainly not the worst game you'll play, but it's never going to be the best.
The Cinema Rosa presents a fascinating mirror image of its creator and how a vision to create something that feels pure can often collide dramatically with reality.
FFX runs very well on the Switch
There are a few rough edges, and I’ll be keen to see how the system handles larger and larger groups of the undead, but at the moment, I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Oregon wilderness.
BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is a wonderful game and definitely one that should be included in every Switch owners library
