PowerUp!'s Reviews
Final Fantasy 8 Remastered is exactly what it is supposed to be; a great updated release of a classic JRPG with a unique battle system that will please old fans and hopefully create a whole lot of new ones.
I like Space Invaders, so I like Doughlings Invasion. The RPG touches and variety of enemies add a little something extra to the mix
I honestly can't fault Catherine: Full Body and if you're a proponent of games as art then this is definitely a game for you. It's a stunning achievement and one that I'm glad to have played through.
The shorter narrative and anthology presentation suits the title better than a standalone full-priced title
If you’re a fan of Tokyo RPG Factory’s games or JRPGs, go ahead and check Oninaki out. It’s an interesting take on the genre, and on some tricky topics that are rarely tackled in games. Otherwise—and especially if you’re likely to find such content difficult—give it a miss.
Outside of the rough philosophical implications, Etherborn provides a player with some seriously fun and often difficult puzzles that will force you to engage to proceed.
Redeemer: Enhanced Edition is almost the game it wants to be, the game we all want it to be, but even this improved port can't change the fact that it simply isn't.
It's impeccably designed, masterfully executed and an absolute must-play.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is an interesting game and experiment. It might not be for everyone, but if you give it a chance, your enjoyment may just evolve along with your family of apes.
Combining the gorgeous aesthetics, the killer soundtrack and exciting lucky-dip of mutations, RAD has mutated itself into a real little treat for me that I didn’t see coming
I haven’t shouted, cheered, or laughed this much at a point and click adventure in a very, very long time.
In a time when marketers are tripping over themselves to distance their games from the overt politics they draw upon, The Church in the Darkness unapologetically runs in the opposite direction. Freedom Town isn’t just a facsimile of a political movement, it’s a borderline reenactment that asks players to take its world, and history, seriously.
There’s plenty of fun to be had but it’s not quite the Nazi killing romp I wanted
This is the Metroidvania we’ve all been waiting for. If you’ve never played Metroidvanias, this is an easy entry point (example: me). If you have, you’ll adore its mechanics, absurdities, and inexplicable moments.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a wonderful, time consuming, engaging, joyous game. It will have you smiling ear to ear and you won't stop, not even for a minute.
Playing The Sinking City feels oppressive, as it should. Oakmont is a terrible, rotten, half destroyed place where lawlessness abounds. Half the city believes in racial purity and the others believe in the long-dormant Elder Gods beneath the ocean. Even with the sometimes clunky dialogue and stiff animations, The Sinking City is a fascinating study of the human condition.
Super Mario Maker 2 is a must-play and a must-buy for anyone and everyone who owns a Switch. No question.
Samurai Shodown is a great reboot for a great series. Fighting game fans definitely need to grab a copy and start fighting.
Another Sight is a reasonably enjoyable adventure for those enjoy puzzle-solving and listening to the Queen's English.
If you've already got other kart racers in your collection, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled isn't a necessity.
