MediEvil Review Summary

FairCritic Consensus

Nostalgic

For some players, it's a blast from the past.

Some Broken Bones

Bugs turn up all over the place in this retro remake.

Better Left in the 90s

The gameplay suite just doesn't hold up anymore.

MediEvil follows a recent string of 90s remakes. To date, they've been pretty successful, but MediEvil doesn't quite stack up to the likes of Crash and Spyro. For the most diehard PS1 fans, there's maybe something here, but for everyone else, you're best left with just the fond memories.

A remake that is loyal to a fault when it comes to honouring the original, with gameplay and design mechanics that were barely acceptable 21 years ago, let alone now.

The story and writing are still clever, but Dan's adventure hasn't aged well, and ends up being a chore

This nostalgic puzzle-platforming action game, newly transported into the modern day, looks great but feels old.
