Pure Nintendo's Reviews

8 / 10.0 - ORD.
Nov 11, 2020

ORD. is a special game that lets you choose your own adventure via three words at a time. The stories are uniquely presented, making it creative to witness and enjoyable to play. It might not warrant a second playthrough once you've been through all the scenarios, but it's a fun journey nonetheless.

8 / 10.0 - TENS!
Nov 10, 2020

Whether it's just for short burst, or even if you want to spend hours playing it, TENS! is a must play for any puzzle game enthusiasts.

Somewhat short for its genre but reasonably sweet, Kaptain Brawe: A Brawe New World comes recommended for fans. While speech is certainly missed, the art style is inviting to the eyes. It plays it straight, but the fun characters and satisfying puzzles make it well worthwhile for those who overlooked it upon initial release.

Re:Turn – One Way Trip isn't a terribly long or frightening excursion, but those seeking a good puzzle adventure with an emotionally-rich story and a take-charge female protagonist will be happy they bought the ticket.

6.5 / 10.0 - Terror Squid
Nov 9, 2020

Terror Squid is an addictive and fun take on the shooter genre, in which you create your own bullet hell by shooting bullets at yourself. The longevity is the only issue; a few more modes wouldn't go astray.

As a solo game, I admit this one won't endure for me as a series newbie. It's just okay, at best. But if you're a returning player or wish to experience it in co-op, there's positively good fun to be had. You can lose track of time, making all manner of tasty-looking dishes while bobbing your head to the great soundtrack.

Although I still get a kick out of seeing these Neo Geo Pocket Color games on the Nintendo Switch, some fare better than others. THE LAST BLADE: Beyond the Destiny is my last choice. The combat's a little too sluggish, the presentation a little too uneven, and the overall package a little too dated. I'd check out one of the prior NGPC releases instead.

Shantae Risky's Revenge is a fun, challenging adventure. Filled with difficult boss battles, tons of tricky puzzles, and all kinds of magic spells to learn. While it may be a little outdated, Risky's Revenge will always be fun to play.

9 / 10.0 - Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Nov 4, 2020

Talk of double-dipping aside, Pikmin 3: Deluxe is one of the best games available for the Nintendo Switch. Local co-op play in story mode, however, is the only addition that helps it stand out from the original Wii U version. If you're not playing with a partner, view this only as an expensive stopgap as we await the ever-elusive Pikmin 4.

5 / 10.0 - CrossKrush
Nov 4, 2020

While the idea behind CrossKrush makes for a neat distraction as a puzzler, it simply can't hold your attention beyond a few passing minutes.

Real-life hunters should appreciate Hunting Simulator 2. Virtual hunters may sometimes find themselves in want, as this game can straddle the line between relaxing and dull. But it should grow on you, as your canine companion also grows beside you. You'll develop "nerves of steel, and an incredible amount of patience." Be prepared to invest a lot of time to get the most out of this entertaining if uneven offering, though.

7 / 10.0 - Clea
Nov 1, 2020

Don't let its children's book aesthetic and promise of being "jump scare free" fool you. Clea is an effectively creepy survival horror game that requires plenty of patience and courage when you'd rather just run.

6.5 / 10.0 - GORSD
Nov 1, 2020

GORSD is a creepy title that's hard to get into. Once you figure out the controls and concept, it's actually fun and very challenging. It's aesthetically very pleasing, and the audio is also a treat.

4 / 10.0 - Party Hard 2
Oct 31, 2020

I found Party Hard 2 lacking in anything to keep me interested. There are only so many times and so many ways you can kill people to end a party. The whole idea and concept of the game just felt generic and contrived in an attempt to be edgy. I find it very hard to recommend. Party Hard 2 is anything but a party.

3 / 10.0 - Tiki Brawl

The simplicity of Tiki Brawl is reflected in its low price. But it's still somewhat disappointing compared to the studio's other games.

9.5 / 10.0 - Horace
Oct 31, 2020

Horace is a pitch-perfect puzzle platformer that expertly balances addictive gameplay with its moving tale of a robot trying to discover himself in a world that makes no sense. It knows why we love video games, and it confirms we're right to do so.

7 / 10.0 - Jet Set Knights

Jet Set Knights is a fun game to pick up and play once in a while. It's a good challenge, but you'll need some local friends to truly have a good time with the game.

A different kind of point-and-click adventure, Agatha Christie – The ABC Murders has both highs and lows on the Nintendo Switch. But it's the quantity and quality of speech that pushes it over the edge for me, despite the inexplicable lack of handheld play.

7 / 10.0 - The Red Lantern
Oct 29, 2020

Overall The Red Lantern is full of heart and charm, but with some disappointing execution that had much potential. The journey felt short, and I noticed a few bugs, at one point getting so bad I had to restart. I feel like it is too short to be $24.99. But if you love dogs, making choices, and the great Alaskan wilderness, this game would be worth picking up if on sale.
