Nintendo Times's Reviews

Grim Fandango is a fantastic remake of a PC adventure classic and well worth playing on the Nintendo Switch. You can enjoy it on the go or at home on the TV and it's a perfect game to play around this time of the year. Every point-and-click adventure fan should pick this one up.

Horizon Chase Turbo is everything you could ask for in a modern take on the classic arcade racing genre. The gameplay is simple, there are several modes and cars to unlock, and the online leaderboard events will keep you coming back to this game again and again.

6.5 / 10.0 - Party Hard
Nov 27, 2018

Party Hard is a controversial stealth slasher game that aesthetically shadows much of Hotline Miami. It finds some of its own identity in places, and tries hard not to take itself very seriously. You’ll get the gist of gameplay in the first couple of levels, and then it starts to feel like a monotonous grind.

7.5 / 10.0 - Pokémon: Let's Go
Nov 23, 2018

Both fans and newcomers should find something to like with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu/Eevee! This remake of Yellow brings the nostalgia for longtime players, and the game looks great. A lackluster challenge, forced motion controls, and neutered combat system all detract from what could have been an amazing experience.

6.5 / 10.0 - Varion
Nov 20, 2018

If you’re up for a slick local play arena shooter for your Switch, Varion comes to the table with prominent visuals and easy controls. However the core game mechanic of ricochet-only kills will definitely turn off some players, as it feels more luck-based than skill.

7 / 10.0 - Astebreed
Nov 19, 2018

Astebreed is a good game that makes you see quality over quantity in a whole new light. The game is stunningly beautiful, to the point that you would mistake it for a triple-A title. However, the game is absurdly short and severely lacks in content beyond the story mode.

Project Highrise: Architect’s edition is one of the best simulation games I have ever played. With endless content and extremely fun gameplay, I can see many people who purchase this game sinking many hours into it, while enjoying every moment. I greatly recommend a purchase of this wildly fun game.

8 / 10.0 - Rogue Legacy
Nov 16, 2018

Rogue Legacy is a roguelike that does everything so right for its genre. It has a unique premise, an interesting depth in its challenge, and immense replayability. It has some very minor flaws, but those pale in comparison to everything this game does right.

6 / 10.0 - Trailblazers
Nov 13, 2018

Trailblazers incorporates some fun ideas, like painting the road to create boost strips, but fails to deliver in the controls department. It’s worth considering if you’re looking for something else that isn’t Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – but it’s nowhere near as fun.

5 / 10.0 - Brawlhalla
Nov 12, 2018

Brawlhalla is a decent attempt at a free-to-play fighting game, though it leaves much to be desired. There’s some fun to be had with the offline modes, but nothing stands out enough that would make you want to spend actual money on the game.

This is a South Park game done right. You have the crude adult humor mixed well with the overall fun gameplay. The game suffers from a variety of smaller issues, but excels at providing an amazing experience for fans of the show.

3.5 / 10.0 - Car Quest
Nov 6, 2018

Car Quest led on a promise of an epic adventure, but with highly monotonous gameplay, coupled with a visually dull world, and car handling that felt less like a sports car and more like a boat, there just were not enough redeeming features for me to say it’s worth $9.99. You’re better off not buying this car from the lot.
