Nintendo Times's Reviews

Nickelodeon Kart Racers had so much potential, but in the end, it turned out to be yet another Shovelware failure. While the game has a lot more tracks than you’d expect, the overall package is a disappointment for both diehard Nickelodeon fans, and for casual players. If you or your kids are huge fans of the IP then it might be worth waiting for a price cut.

Save me Mr. Tako! is recommend for classic gamers and fans of independent games alike. It’s easy to play, but the story keeps pulling you along and the gameplay evolves with the story through both the hats that you discover, and the surprising things that you’ll find in the environments.

7 / 10.0 - Gal Metal
Oct 30, 2018

Gal Metal is a very creative music game, but is held back due to lack of song choices and lots of boring sequences in between stages.

Lego Harry Potter Collection offers Switch owners a fantastic and fun thrill ride through the Harry Potter universe. While not as expansive as newer Lego games, this 2010 throwback holds up incredibly well and is still bursting with the charm that put Harry Potter and Lego games on the map in the first place.

Death Mark is a survival horror interactive graphic novel with point and click adventure gameplay elements that is designed to give the player a suspenseful and scary experience. With a heavy emphasis on reading and paying attention to visual cues, it will give fans of the genre a lot to digest. Those who want more action and adventure will want to look elsewhere.

Although one of the games is quite fun to play, the other is an exercise in frustration that drags down the entire collection. If they are sold separately in the future, purchase Midnight Shadows, as it’s the best one of the two. Otherwise wait for a sale before checking the collection out.

5 / 10.0 - Tied Together
Oct 23, 2018

Tied Together offers such a neat gimmick, but fails in its execution. There are over 60 levels that will put you and your friends to the test, but anyone expecting some nice variety of replay value will be sorely disappointed. While I had some fun playing this game, that’s due to the people I played with rather than the quality of the game. Save your $15 for something else.

7 / 10.0 - Soulblight
Oct 22, 2018

Soulblight is a challenging action RPG with a unique twist, harkening back to the golden age of 16-bit action RPGs on the Super NES. High difficulty and roguelike elements may turn some off, but if those are things you like, then check this one out!

Mega Man 11 is a return to form for the Blue Bomber. The stages are unique and fun to play through, but the difficulty remains high for those seeking a challenge. With pleasing graphics, memorable music, and precise controls, this one’s worth owning.

When it comes to The Jackbox Party Packs, this ranks as one of the best. Nearly all of the games are fun and exciting to play and 4 of the 5 supports up to 8 players, which is fantastic for parties!

An astoundingly excellent adventure game with a lot to do and a great deal of area to explore. They even take the game to the physical world and give you the option of holding the ships and weapons in your hands. Change them out to be instantly shown in the game and combine them in any way you choose. This is one of the best games to come out for the Switch yet!

7.5 / 10.0 - Monster Loves You
Oct 15, 2018

Monster Loves You is a carefully crafted storybook experience that works splendidly with the Switch, allowing controller or touch screen interfacing. It’s one of those games that’s great to be played as a bedtime story for your kids, or just on your own as you please. There’s a lot of endings, with even more decision outcomes in the heart of the game. Watching your monster grow up is a clever story arc and one with a lot of fun to be read along the way. With the price point of $9.99 at the time of this writing, I’d equate this to picking up a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book. There’s a lot of enjoyable reading here for the value.

For those craving the colorful parkour experience, you’ve come to the right place. Hover: Revolt of Gamers plays fantastically and it has a kicking soundtrack. While there are some issues with the structure of the game, it doesn’t ruin the overall experience.

Think of the Children is a fun and frantic party game that delivers on its promise of parenting mayhem. I enjoyed the simplistic gameplay and objectives, but really struggled with the visual style, particularly in handheld mode. I would have also loved to have some options to make difficulty adjustments, but the game as it stands shines the best when played with others, though solo mode is still achievable.

5 / 10.0 - A Gummy's Life
Oct 10, 2018

A Gummy’s Life fails to bring the gummy fiction to life on almost all counts apart from the characters. With no combat feedback and UI, punches and kicks felt non-impacting and lifeless in the physics brawling. While the game is fun for a few minutes at times, a lack of progression or goals keeps this title on a very short lifeline. The MSRP of $14.99 just feels too steep for this game’s offerings.

Disgaea 1 Complete is the original Disgaea: Hour of Darkness from the PS2 ported to the Switch so that you can take it with you anywhere you go. It’s one of the best tactical RPG games to hit the market and it will give you many, many hours of satisfying strategical gameplay with great graphics and excellent music.
