7 / 10.0 - Returnal
May 7, 2021

Exploration and combat make Returnal an excellent game that I can't recommend at this moment because of all the technical issues plaguing it.

In short, Demon's Souls is sensational for an originally PS3 game. Bluepoint Games has done an excellent job at adapting it to modern standards, and while some aspects still could've been improved, it is a must buy for fans of the Souls genre.

8.5 / 10.0 - Astro's Playroom
Mar 11, 2021

Not only is Astro's Playroom a great way to experience PlayStation 5's Dualsense to its fullest, it's a treat to every lifelong PlayStation fan and a very good platformer.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a fun and well made spin-off that does not stray too far from the original PS4 game, and I can't wait for what Insomniac Games is able to do in their next game.

I loved my time with Age of Calamity despite some of its issues. It's a memorable journey with a compelling story and fun, but flawed, gameplay. And a great game for fans of the Zelda series, while we wait for the Breath of the Wild sequel.

5.5 / 10.0 - Minecraft Dungeons
Sep 19, 2020

Minecraft Dungeons brings the crafting game's charm to a dungeon crawler type of game and can be pretty fun in short bursts. Unfortunately, the game's long and repetitive dungeons get boring quickly.

Even though it distances itself from its roots, The Origami Kings manages to be a fun and compelling adventure, with hilarious moments and amazing characters, even if the combat misses the mark.

Captain Tsubasa does not go out of its way to be more than a game for the fans of the manga. As a fan myself, I enjoyed reliving Oozora Tsubasa's middle school journey and the world cup, but I found the gameplay to be too superficial.

8 / 10.0 - Tell Me Why
Sep 11, 2020

Tell Me Why is more down to earth than its Life is Strange predecessors, but that is in no way a flaw. Its charming characters, beautiful Alaskan setting and slow-burning storyline that rewards the attentive player make it a great slice-of-life adventure.

Although Nexomon: Extinction's story gives the game an unique charm, its remaining aspects do not elevate it inside the genre. I expected more from Nexomon and I was left disappointed, the game failed to offer a memorable journey thanks its unbalanced gameplay, tedious grind and lack of innovation.

7.5 / 10.0 - Ghost of Tsushima
Aug 23, 2020

Ghost of Tsushima does not stray away from your typical AAA Open World game, but it does some small changes and improvements that make it a lot more pleasant and fun than other games in the genre. The game's combat is satisfying (the stealth is not), and it's got one of the most beautiful worlds I've ever had the pleasure to play in.

The mechanics are great, Europe has become much more fun to play in. The HRE has become a bigger challenge to manage, and the mission overhauls in the region are a very welcome addition to make the gameplay there more enjoyable. Catholicism reworked has given the religion a much higher rating among its counterparts, and a completely viable option for long term use. The new mercenary system is a great change compared to what the system was before. This is an excellent DLC that was absolutely worth the long wait.

The Last of Us Part II is a technical marvel, one of the best looking games of this gen with a phenomenal soundtrack and sound design and a gameplay loop where every encounter is suffocating and extremely satisfying. Its narrative doesn't always stick the landing, however, it is still a memorable tale about conflict and bonds between flawed human beings on a world which lacks humanity.

7 / 10.0 - Gears Tactics
May 16, 2020

Gears Tactics is a solid iteration of Gears' gameplay as a tactical game. And despite having a few frustrating moments, I enjoyed the ~30 hours I spent on it, the combat choices and strategy elements are both fun and satisfying, although the missions end up getting repetitive and monotonous with a few difficulty spikes. Nonetheless, I hope The Coalition and Splash Damage expand on this game with future DLC or a sequel.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps in an emotional journey through a beautifully crafted world. Gareth Coker's soundtrack is sensational and the combat and exploration are as fun as they are satisfying. Moon Studios' new game is a must have for every Metroidvania fan, and an easy recommendation to everyone who has access to Xbox Games Pass.

Final Fantasy VII Remake boasts an incredibly fun combat system under a fantastic soundtrack and beautiful visuals. Unfortunately, the writing does not do its narrative any favors, and the game released with a fair share of issues.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Outer Worlds
Apr 15, 2020

The Outer Worlds does a good job at filling the gap left by the Fallout series after its recent controversies. The game shines in its roleplay and dialogue. I loved every second I spent on Halycon, but I can't help but feel that there's an untapped potential the developers could've put more time into. Hopefully a possible sequel should raise the quality of many of its aspects, especially the narrative and combat.

The changes they have added to the game have made it much more enjoyable, and much clearer to play as a manager. The expectations have been set in stone for you with the club vision. You have gained a clearer view of your younger players with the youth development screen, and as always, the game has improved over the last installment. With the current winter update out as well, I would recommend getting this game now and enjoying your management career, especially if you get it with together with a friend.

9 / 10.0 - DOOM Eternal
Mar 26, 2020

DOOM Eternal is an upgrade of its predecessor in every aspect. The violent and energetic combat encounters at the sound of Mick Gordon's tracks are as fun as they are satisfying. Few games have left me this exhausted (in a good way) as DOOM Eternal. And after I finished it, I asked for more. It's without a doubt in my mind one of the best first person shooters of this generation, and a strong candidate for game of the year.

Unscored - Luna
Mar 25, 2020

Unfortunately, without the VR component and someone younger to share the experience, Luna is difficult to review. However, its interactive fairy tale presentation is supported by an aesthetic that recalls a childlike and tactile feeling, a haunting and serene soundtrack along with a gripping narration and simple puzzles. Luna is an easy recommendation if you have a sibling or a child or if you want to introduce someone to games.
