Destiny 2: Beyond Light turns out to be a good product along the lines of Shadowkeep. We are facing a standalone chapter that introduces a new year in the Bungie universe with many new features and not without some gray area, often due to lack of care in the writing phase. The new subclass is interesting and we hope it is only the beginning of a cycle of large implementations in this sense. The hunting season begins a totally new chapter for the world of Destiny 2 and the foundations to give important twists to the plot and gameplay are all there: it will be up to Bungie with the next updates to make the MMORPG still alive and thriving with news and pepper. We on the Tower always look at the horizon waiting for what will come, this time even beyond that bulky balloon and beyond its light.

Capcom lands on next gen with the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 5 and does so with a slightly weak edition as regards the contents: the character of Vergil, also sold separately at the price of 5 euros, certainly brings new life to the gameplay but in addition to this we would have expected to be able to play specific missions for the character or at least to enjoy some more cutscenes. For the rest, the title is always an excellent Japanese hack'n'slash that continues to be one of the best in recent years with amazing gameplay and excellent next-gen quality. If you haven't played Devil May Cry 5 yet, this edition has to be yours.

6.6 / 10.0 - Exit the Gungeon
Dec 5, 2020

I would say that Exit the Gungeon is a fun game but also quite tough, so do not immediately lose heart in this bullet hell, especially if roguelikes are a genre that you like and do for you.

6.9 / 10.0 - Startup Panic
Dec 7, 2020

Startup Panic is a complete management game from all points of view, managing to be very casual and consequently to attract casual players to itself. Although its replicability is not very high, it gives many hours of fun especially in the dead times to be filled in a carefree way.

8.4 / 10.0 - Haven
Dec 8, 2020

Armed with a charismatic artistic direction, excellent in every part, and supported by a varied gameplay which makes it impossible to get bored, Haven is, in conclusion, a refined game capable of entering the list of most succesful titles of the year and which blends will leave its mark for long. The Game Bakers’ work strikes for its delicate narrative with blends perfectly with the gameplay and the artistic compartament, all three almost creating a well balanced and light dance.

7.9 / 10.0 - Per Aspera
Dec 8, 2020

For Aspera it is a complete management game from all points of view, managing to offer rich and articulated dynamics that the game itself struggles to keep up with towards the mid-game. Despite this, the challenge offered by the title is decidedly durable, compelling and satisfying, a must for all those who are passionate about this genre, especially if sensitive to the gloomy charm of space.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is a title fit to amaze, even though its production doesn’t aim to innovate the genre by using other open world titles as an inspiration. At the end of the day it is a fresh surprise though, which puts together a fitfull of events and things to do by leaning on a fluid and fun gameplay and by uniting classic types of combat to different puzzle-centred moments. Overall, the game experience is very convincing and allows the player to spend more than a few hours in mesmerizing lands characterized by vivid colours and reminders of greek myths.

For how Override 2: Super Mech League was conceived, it should have been a fairly long-lived multiplayer title, a goal that already falters in its first week and not a little. The almost total absence of variety, of an object and, worse still, of fun (since most of the time you are against slightly incapable bots) make it a wasted opportunity, even for those like me who appreciate unconditionally all about mecha. I don't know how much margin for improvement this project can have, but I have some hope in that.

6.1 / 10.0 - All Walls Must Fall
Jan 20, 2021

All Walls Must Fall starts with a bang, in all possible senses, and then gets stuck in the banal dictated by the repetitiveness of the patterns both in terms of gameplay and graphic sector, going to run out in a very short time and not being too replayable despite the possibility of having “always different” campaigns; unfortunately these differences are so barely perceptible as to give an aura of monotony to the whole game, leaving in the mouth the taste of a good opportunity that has been wasted. The porting to Switch, although it has the not indifferent charm of portability, is not very user friendly, since All Walls Must Fall has a decidedly more PC-oriented system, in which management is decidedly simpler and less difficult.

Jan 31, 2021

In its primary aspects, the game lacks a backbone, which translates into a scarcity of true action and adrenaline, especially in situations where one would expect them such as bossfights and competitions which are portrayed minimally. This makes the game feel repetitive, being sometimes enjoyable but without any of the exciting peaks that one would expect to feel from the Redout races.

8.4 / 10.0 - Hitman 3
Feb 1, 2021

Hitman 3, but generally the whole game trilogy, is an appealing videogaming experience for all lovers of the genre but also for all the other players out there. We are looking at a very high quality standard, a game that is easily a point of reference for the genre, but also an experiment of entertainment divided in chapters that might just work halfway: the risk is the loss of the story’s guiding thread of the trilogy throughout the chapters. The three games seem to create a bigger and longer game which sometimes might feel repetitive in the long run.

7.8 / 10.0 - Project Winter
Feb 4, 2021

Project Winter is an excellent title for those who love this type of multiplayer games, which also thanks to the Game Pass will really provide many hours of fun in the company of friends or strangers. The games are varied and fun thanks above all to the need to interpret, even vocally, one's characters and having to conceal one's identity when one is a traitor. Given the presence in the Game Pass and the non-prohibitive price, I absolutely recommend everyone to give this product a chance. In our hours of testing, mainly played with foreign players who played on PC, we really got to see a myriad of fun and satisfying situations, and also to insult ourselves a little, because we know that when there are betrayals involved, even if in the game, you have to be careful not to ruin friendships (obviously, I’m joking).

6.2 / 10.0 - War Truck Simulator
Feb 7, 2021

In conclusion, we are faced with a simple work but with ambitions: the developers have focused a lot on the gameplay, which is genuinely fun and engaging, with its ease and directness. On the other hand, the graphics sector is the main limitation of the product: however technically stable, the glance is heavily sacrificed and honestly crude: a second side of the coin that is really dark and punishing. War, on the other hand, is war and substance will always be more important than form. We might as well get on board the truck and start doing our job.

5.9 / 10.0 - Gods Will Fall
Feb 8, 2021

Sadly, this game is more on the no side, due to its price but mostly because of its overall faults such as the gameplay with unstable frames (especially on PS4) when more enemies are on the screen, unprecise inputs, mutiple bugs, repetition of same levels. Moreover, the level of difficulty becomes all the more easier as one progresses in the game, and the repetition of enemies and dungeons doesn’t push the player to want to replay the game.

Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption is undoubtedly a particular game, which clearly is not suitable for all palates, not even for those who are familiar with graphic adventures or RPGs. If caught from the right perspective, it manages to fully capture the player in that fantastic glimpse of Shawn's student life, more precisely in that journey of personal growth to discover a great mystery that has enveloped his life for years now. Faced with a more detached spirit, it will simply be a teen drama game with a rather tedious pace. It is precisely because of this ambivalent nature that I cannot go too far in the final evaluation of Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption; even with numerous graphic adventures in my repertoire, this title didn’t manage to involve me as I hoped thanks to the premises offered. A slightly wasted opportunity which, however, finds luck in its porting to the Switch, in particular thanks to the possibility of interfacing with it using the touch screen, which greatly simplifies things within a graphic adventure transposed to the console.

6.9 / 10.0 - Yaga
Feb 10, 2021

Yaga is a real videogame fairy tale, which is evident not only from the narrative premises, but also from the way in which the game unfolds in its various aspects. The graphic rendering evidently recalls the books that accompanied our childhood, just like the narrative tenor of the amusing and rhyming dialogues. Fairy tale in which the player will outline the main character aspects of his blacksmith; all these elements make the game in question worthy of the attention of any player.

This Dead Cells DLC completely passes the test. The Motion Twins devs had already created a solid game with the first Dead Cells, and this DLC only enriches it further with its new expansion. New players, just like the old timers, will be able to experience something fun which will satisfy the eyes with the amazing artistic compartment but especially the player’s want for a challenge.

8.4 / 10.0 - The Nioh Collection
Feb 12, 2021

The Nioh Collection is certainly a work of good workmanship with the Team Ninja who wanted to dust off above all the old chapter of the series and bring it, hand in hand with the most recent Nioh 2, on PlayStation 5 with mainly technical improvements thanks to the granites 60 fps and to the novelty of 120 fps in full versions with all DLCs (which can also be purchased separately from the collection with the names of Nioh Remastered - The Complete Edition and Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition). In addition, both productions enjoy almost lightning-fast loading screens and support the possibility of cross-save with PS4, with the possibility of importing your own saves from PS4 directly to PS5 using the cloud (PlayStation Plus is required).

6.5 / 10.0 - Mutropolis
Feb 18, 2021

Mutropolis is a pretty enjoyable game, with sometimes interesting puzzles and ideas. It was enjoyable when it comes to the egyptian symbology and the quirky references related to the current nerdy culture and past literature. It didn’t deliver though when it comes to a willingness on the player’s part, mine in this case, to keep going or to keep me interested in the long run. The plot and story were overall very simple and not so engaging.

Chronicle of Innsmouth: Mountains of Madness is a fantastic title, able to fully experience the horror of the lovecraftian novel by the same name to anyone who approaches it: in fact, all the topical and typical elements of the father of the occult can be found in it, outlining an intricate narrative sequence, mysterious at the right point and full of well-characterized characters. Once again the graphic adventure proves to be the best videogame genre for Lovecraftian works of inspiration and / or transposition, as they are mainly focused on investigation. In short, a game that harks back to the glories of the past, managing to characterize itself and impress its mark, demonstrating the true strength of the Italian videogames industry.
