Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League brings on our screens a new compelling Arkhamverse story coupled with an entertaining gameplay loop. However, it fails to keep our interest high past the first hours, due to the lack of a deeper structure and a more varied gameplay. Overall, this results in a disappointing experience, especially for a game with live service ambitions. Our hopes for improvement are pinned on future content updates and solid post-launch support.

Tekken 8 greatly improves its proven formula: the Heat system manages to make every fight faster and adrenalinic rewarding a more aggressive style, while studying every move and training become essential parts of the experience. Bandai Namco's new game affirms itself as the new king of 3D fighters, thanks to the solid and deep gameplay that made this series unique and timeless.

Ubisoft kicks off the year with a brilliant metroidvania, not only successfully refreshing a historical franchise, but also effectively introducing new elements to the genre, while providing challenging, varied and satisfying fights, and very thoughtful environmental puzzles. Definitely suggested to every lover of the genre.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora features a lush and visually stunning world with very satisfying tactical combat; unfortunately, the anonymous and forgettable story is unconvincing, while the gameplay is undermined by a problematic mission design that can often make our experience frustrating.

CyberConnect2's new game feels like a missed opportunity, with a lazily built Naruto story mode and identical gameplay to the past games. Boruto's story mode and the huge roster of characters help it to partly recover, but it's too little, especially for a game that is supposed to celebrate 20 years of Naruto history.

UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves is a partly successful nostalgia operation: it succeeds in giving strong emotions to those who lived through the golden age of Japanese robot cartoons, but unfortunately has major technical flaws, with delays in the control system and graphical slowdowns.

The Talos Principle II has emerged as one of the best puzzle adventures ever. A unique and fascinating experience that will keep you glued to the screen for dozens of hours while making you reflect on deep philosophical and existential themes. To be played without hesitation.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is overall a good game, with the best gameplay over the last 3 chapters thanks to a fluid and frenetic multiplayer and a good Zombie mode. A discordant note is an uninvolving and slightly shorter campaign, but it remains the CoD with the best multiplayer in recent years, and this simply cannot be ignored.

EA Sports WRC offers engaging gameplay that manages to bring all the thrills of the rally world to the screen, with an in-depth Career and many other satisfying modes. Despite some technical limitations, it is recommended to Rally and Racing Games fans as a promising new start for the franchise.

A really good simulator, with several improvements in both graphics and gameplay. The technical section is excellent, with maniacal attention to detail, while the gameplay is fluid and the combat system quite solid. The content offering is also top notch, especially the new online career. It will certainly satisfy lovers of mixed martial arts.

Sonic Superstars represents a new return to Sonic's roots, with plenty of frenzy and speed, attractive graphics, adequate sound and of course the 2D feel that has accompanied the blue hedgehog so much throughout his career. Two jarring notes: the overly confused co-op and a longevity that is not top-notch for a game sold at full price.

Alan Wake 2 is Remedy Entertainment's true masterpiece. A survival horror that manages to sensationally blend the pivotal elements of the genre, with gameplay balanced between two protagonists and with non-linear storytelling that on more than one occasion breaks through the barriers of the video game medium to create something broader, and that succeeds in capturing the player also thanks to a technical and artistic realisation of the highest level. A video game that everyone, fans of the genre or not, should consider playing.

Jusant is a gem to see and play; coherent, delicate, thoughtful. The splendid art direction, coupled with a fascinating and magnetic world building, clashes with a limited gameplay layering and a short overall length, but if you love narrative adventures and poetic and inspired game worlds, you will definitely want to play it.

Despite the drastic name change, EA Sports FC 24 doesn't represent a revolution but rather a new step forward in EA Sports' football series, with many new features and some unexpected optimisation issues. But despite the lack of courage in offering a truly innovative experience, it still remains the best choice for all soccer game fans.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged follows the footsteps of the first episode, expanding the formula and offering a full-bodied package, packed with content, cars, and plenty of arcade-style fun. The absence of more acrobatic tracks in true Hot Wheels style is noticeable, but it is still a very entertaining arcade racer.

Ghostrunner 2 takes a big step forward compared to the first game, in all respects: quality, variety, longevity, and game design. A title that is finally mature and capable of entertaining from start to finish, with tough but well-balanced challenges in which the player feels closer to success with each new attempt. Too bad for a somewhat foggy story and some inaccuracies in the controls, but if you want a challenging game that tests your reflexes, it definitely deserves your attention.

Bud Spencer & Terence Hill: Slaps And Beans 2 is a solid, fun and rewarding title as well as a true love letter to the two cult actors. If you're looking for a side-scrolling fighting game that will entertain you with pleasure, this one might just have all the credentials to win you over.

Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is the worthy conclusion, narrative-wise, of the SAO Gamerverse, with continuous twists and turns and the presence of many memorable characters. Unfortunately, on a gameplay level the many mechanics introduced are of little use, and even on a technical level it doesn't impress, also presenting several quality-of-life flaws. It is in all respects a title to be played solely for the plot, dedicated to those who enjoyed the previous chapters.

NHL 24 represents a welcome step forward for the series, with new offensive and defensive game dynamics that raise the simulation level of the series, an excellent implementation of cross-play support, and a very satisfying HUT mode that can be enjoyed even by those who don't want to spend extra money.

Lies of P is an excellent souls-like game, not particularly original and that could be improved in some aspects, but nonetheless capable of keeping the player glued to the screen thanks to a top-quality combat system, a well-structured progress system, and an engaging story full of references to Collodi's novel that serves as a fascinating steampunk world backdrop. A game that all lovers of the genre should try, maybe taking advantage of its presence in the Xbox Game Pass.
