The Fandom Ledger's Reviews

With puzzle games like this, it’s a very much “you get what you see” situation. Which isn’t a mad thing. At all. But it does make for a bit of a struggle to say why one should play this if they aren’t a fan of either Story of Seasons or Nonograms. Because this is for either of those. Or someone like me, who’s both.

s Jeff Minter a madman? Probably, but in an endearing way. Needless to say, this set got me interested in playing his modern work, and I did enjoy finding the diamonds in the rough of early programming and game dev.

I’ve seen what the game looks like on the 3DS and blowing that up to fit the bigger Switch screen or a TV probably wouldn’t look that good without some tweaking. Fortunately FuRyu did a great job with making sure that the game looked as good as it could on the Switch.

4.5 / 5.0 - Rainbow Moon
Mar 15, 2024

Rainbow Moon is a perfect example of an old-school RPG that deserves to be played on the Switch. It’s a really solid game but the combination of price and content puts it over the edge.

If you’re a fan of these songs or just like rhythm games in general, you will get some enjoyment out of Invector. The bugs and glitches will ruin a round or two here and there and you might not like all the songs but for $25 there’s a decent amount of content for a game that’s pretty engaging.

I don’t know why Steel Empire is the game that keeps getting ported, remade, re-released, whatever. Don’t care why either, it’s a good game and if this gets more people to play it, so be it.

I still have issues with Dual Destinies’ handling of returning characters, but in my old age, I find myself caring less and less. These games look good, they play good, and having all three together in HD with all the amenities, it’s perfect.

3 / 5.0 - nGolf
Jan 20, 2024

Do I recommend nGolf? I do, but not at that ridiculous price tag. You’ll be lucky if you can get two hours of gameplay and then never play.

My Time at Sandrock is not a bad game at all but the Switch version suffers a lot because of the technical issues.

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is nothing like its predecessor as it has its timer mechanism and isn’t as “open-world” but it’s a really fast paced game with a lot of humor that you should consider picking up.

If you love the entire package of story, farming, combat, exploration, and characters, you could spend 50 to 70 hours playing the main game before even getting to the 11 Newlywed Mode chapters.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet along with their DLC’s are such an amazing and wonderful action packed experience that it’s easy to ignore the performance issues that most players would complain about.

3.5 / 5.0 - Born of Bread
Dec 14, 2023

The two strongest points of Born of Bread for me were the visuals and sound. I really liked the aesthetic of the 2.5D style, they really stood out to me and made me think back to the Paper Mario and South Park games.

A series of re-releases of older IREM titles for modern consoles thanks to the efforts of Ratalaika Games, ININ Games, and Strictly Limited Games.

The game is serviceable but I really wanted to like it so much more. There’s a lot of potential in the story and characters and both the music and visuals are great, but that’s where the praise ends.

Overall, Super Mario Bros Wonder is going to go down as a classic and I’m super glad I didn’t wait on it. Whether you’re buying a copy for yourself or receiving it as a gift you’re, in for a Wonderful time.

Hello Kitty and Friends Happiness Parade is maybe a bit above the typical licensed game you’d see on a store front in terms of what it has going for it. It’s accessible, maybe even insultingly so, but it really hits down the aesthetic, especially with the menus.

There’s a decent amount of content and lore behind the town that you’re building in and the characters. Put the three aspects together and the end product is a game that has a ton of content.

The core gameplay loop is simple but requires a lot of strategy and sometimes quick thinking. Each time you enter the dungeon you’re given a limited amount of backpack space and a few starting items. When you level up, you’re able to add more space to your backpack but that resets each time.

Suika Game is nothing more than a game for hunting high scores. If you get the watermelon and a really high score on your first attempt, you might not feel motivated to play anymore if you don’t feel like you can get an even better score. However most people will love the thrill of continuously trying to get a better score and using a mix of planning and luck to get them there.
