LEGO Horizon Adventures offers a fun, lighthearted spin on the Horizon series. The trademark humor and charm of LEGO games are all here. While the game stylistically nails translating the world of Horizon into LEGO, the simplistic gameplay, repetition, and lackluster level design hold it back.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is a love letter to retro RPGs with its shiny, modern reinterpretation of a timeless classic. With some absolutely jaw-dropping HD-2D visuals, a re-recorded soundtrack, and gameplay tweaks like difficulty levels and party tactics, the remake does everything to retain that retro spirit intact.

3.7 / 5.0 - Voidwrought
Nov 14, 2024

Combining Egyptian themes with a dash of sci-fi flair, Voidwrought is very pretty for a Metroidvania. Its story is light, and there is minor backtracking here and there, but its eye-catching visuals and satisfying gameplay make it a great pick.

We were really hoping Dragon Age: The Veilguard would be the big, satisfying comeback that would remind us why BioWare was once an RPG powerhouse. But it just doesn’t make the cut. Instead, it makes us wonder if BioWare can still create games like the Mass Effect trilogy and the early Dragon Age titles as they did. If this is what the future of Dragon Age looks like, maybe it’s time to give the series a break.

Red Dead Redemption is a masterpiece that endures. Sure, it's a little rough around the edges, and the price point for this rerelease feels like a bit of a reach, but what you're getting is a weird little piece of gaming history story-driven experience that rarely comes along in such an unfiltered form.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is yet another addition to the series that never quite hit the same highs after its initial success with the original. This title feels like the series at its lowest. Not even the return of the beloved main character of the first game was enough to save just how shallow the writing of the game feels after episode 2.

If you’re into classic COD mechanics with some fresh twists, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is worth a shot. The new omnidirectional movement, return of round-based Zombies, and rewarding progression make this one of the more exciting COD entries.

SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS captures the essence of what Sonic fans love most about the series. Adding classic levels, along with Shadow's unique gameplay mechanics and an interesting storyline, is a big plus. At least that shows Sonic Team's passion for the rebirth of this series.

89 / 100 - 1000xRESIST
Oct 24, 2024

1000xRESIST is one of those titles that you're going to be thinking about long after the credits roll. Considering this is an indie title, it's a really great show of storytelling and world-building. The themes it tackles are pretty heavy and might not be for everyone, but I really can't see anyone leaving disappointed from a story like this.

Starship Troopers: Extermination has some fun bug-slaying action, but poor performance and less-than-stellar content. It is fun, but matchmaking issues and a lack of campaign mode hamper replayability in co-op. Wait for fixes or sale before buying.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a movie-tied survival horror romp that works rather well as a game. If you enjoyed the movies or horror games, this is sure to give you a good spook. For a horror video game based on a movie, it's surprisingly good. The phonogram mechanic makes perfect sense with the movie's premise, the visuals are great, and the game is scary when the time is right.

4.2 / 5.0 - Phoenix Springs
Oct 16, 2024

Phoenix Springs is a visually stunning game with a gripping atmosphere and an emotionally charged story despite being only about four hours long. Its unresolved ending comes off as pretentious, and the emotional heaviness may not sit well with everyone. If you're into art-driven narratives, Phoenix Springs is worth experiencing at least once.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO succeeds in delivering a nostalgic yet fresh experience for longtime fans of the series. The sheer amount of content, from its massive roster of characters to the episodic story mode, makes it a love letter to the franchise's rich history. The combat mechanics feel responsive and fast-paced, rewarding both casual and competitive players.

90 / 100 - KILL KNIGHT
Oct 11, 2024

KILL KNIGHT is an enjoyable and fast-paced action experience that avoids the attention struggles that I face in our digitally-dominated society. From the very beginning of the game, it had my full attention with gut-wrenching visuals in cutscenes and easy-to-learn but deep combat mechanics.

Until Dawn is a faithful remake of the original while offering updated visuals and nothing more. Those unfamiliar with the franchise, this remake is an excellent way to pass the time—plenty of suspense, effective scares, and meaningful player choices that make the investment worthwhile. Plus, you will have a kick out of making fun of the numerous terrible characters featured in this game.

5 / 5.0 - Silent Hill 2
Oct 7, 2024

Silent Hill 2 Remake brings the cult classic psychological horror’s eerie atmosphere and unnerving storytelling to modern platforms. This will retain the heart of what made the original so special and amplify it with updated visuals, expanded areas, and more fluid gameplay. It's a perfect game for anyone who can endure horror.

75 / 100 - Ravenswatch
Oct 5, 2024

Ravenswatch is a fun roguelike romp with a neat co-op mode, tactical combat, and many memorable characters. Perhaps it lacks the narrative complexity or polish of some other titles within the genre, but its inventive retelling of well-known fairy tale characters and that eerie, atmospheric setting does make it interesting.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom makes an excellent return as the first original 2D Zelda game in over a decade. It's not without its issues, with the UI being just okay and the performance being a little off the mark, but as a game, it's a lot of fun. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has one of the best 2D open worlds in Zelda games to date. I absolutely loved taking threats on from the shoes of Princess Zelda, who has proved not just to be a damsel in distress.

3.5 / 5.0 - Wild Bastards
Sep 29, 2024

Wild Bastards has a unique take on the roguelike FPS genre that prioritizes strategy. The wacky space cowboy theme is interesting and the visuals are fantastic, but the game is lacking with its story, sound and it struggles a bit with repetitiveness.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports is a family-friendly title that does not take many risks, nor does it do much to shake up the family-oriented sports game genre. The game presents itself as merely another flavor of the sort of game that can be played when your buddies are over, and it does a solid job at that. If you are a parent thinking about getting this game for your child, this would be a solid way of introducing them to the wacky world of Looney Tunes.
