Matheus Jenevain's Reviews

A writer of unspecified age and exceptional skill (according to himself, believe it or not). Enjoys Metroidvanias, RPGs and fighting games. Prays every night, intensely, to receive a remake of God Hand. Has never been answered.
7.9 / 10.0 - 9 Years of Shadows
Jul 31, 2025

I had a lot of fun with 9 Years of Shadows. Furthermore, I'd say it has the potential to please genre fans and, more than that, be an excellent gateway for those who are new to metroidvanias.

6.3 / 10.0 - Killing Floor 3
Jul 27, 2025

Killing Floor 3 seemed like a fun game to play, but it doesn't offer everything it could to be a truly rewarding experience.

6.3 / 10.0 - Moroi
Jul 24, 2025

Moroi ended up being a much less magical and fantastical experience than it could have been. The premise is good, has potential, and even manages to leave us quite impressed at certain moments. However, the overall experience doesn't deliver, especially in the gameplay, which ultimately makes this fairy tale not as fabulous as it could have been.

We have a remaster of an already incredible title, now with renewed and beautiful visuals. Furthermore, the adventure remains phenomenal, the gameplay fun and full of freedom, the story interesting to follow, and the content vast and rewarding.

FRONT MISSION 3: Remake continues to be a very fun game and, I believe, one of the highlights of the series. It has more than enough to please fans of the tactical JRPG genre and giant robots and, barring one or two mistakes, it is a must-play for those who enjoy the style.

My experience with FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time was beautiful. I really enjoyed what the title offered, and I was surprised by the amount of content I explored and, even more, by how much I still have to explore.

RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, readers, really managed to fulfill its goal of modernizing a classic title that, given the time it was released, is still very fun to play.

Chronicles of the Wolf, readers, was a pleasant surprise in this new wave of metroidvanias that we have been seeing on the market lately. The game was built on solid foundations, which seems to me to be a good understanding of what makes the genre something special and, all things considered, quite competent and successful.

It's a commendable endeavor, indeed, and I really enjoy seeing franchises trying new things, both in their mechanics and their overall aesthetics.

7.3 / 10.0 - Blades of Fire
May 20, 2025

Even though I had fun with the combat and forging mechanics, and was intrigued by some aspects of its narrative, I felt that the title wasn't all it could be due to some flaws that affect the experience as a whole.

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is a competent roguelike, capable of serving as a good gateway for curious players and a good distraction for fans of the genre. Although it misses many good opportunities, the title does enough to deliver what it sets out to do and give us a few good hours of fun.

Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark ends up being an experience that could have been much more enjoyable than it actually was. While the game offers good options, on the other hand it leaves a lot open and doesn't capitalize on its strengths. For this reason, it may even please fans of the genre, but you'll need to be a little lenient to really want to follow the two sisters' journey.

KARMA: The Dark World is one of the best walking simulators I've played in recent times, purely because of its visual identity, its themes and the way it builds its universe.

We have fun and varied combat, with a good amount of skills, classes and improvements to unlock. In addition, the metroidvania structure and the different missions and secrets grant a good amount of things to do.

I really enjoyed what they did with the title, especially in the gameplay department. The new additions and improvements really managed to elevate the game, bringing its full potential to action.

I must admit that I had fun with INAYAH: Life After Gods, and I believe that the title does more than what is necessary to entertain us and deliver what we expect from the genre. Even though it doesn't break much of the metroidvania mold, the mechanics and ideas are well implemented and we can even consider it a good introduction to the style.

8.5 / 10.0 - WWE 2K25

I had a great time with WWE 2K25. Wrestling fans are in for another great year, and I believe that anyone who enjoys the sport or is curious about it will find a lot to enjoy here.

It’s a bit difficult to recommend SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada. Sure, fans of extraction shooters and mechas will find something to enjoy, but only if they pay the appropriate taxes. However, it’s hard to enjoy the game when you think about how much you have to “work” to get basic things, something that unfortunately shouldn’t happen in paid titles like this.

My time with Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land was a recipe for success, in which the sum of all the high-quality parts more than made up for the ones that weren't so high.

Beyond the Ice Palace 2 is a good choice for fans of the metroidvania genre, especially those who want something closer to the platform and action side of the old games.
