GreedFall: The Dying World had a rather difficult task. Not only did it have to build on the strengths of the first chapter released in 2019, but it also had to be a test of maturity for the Spiders development team, which has historically been torn between heart and compromise. The ambition is clear: an even bigger RPG packed with content, with strong themes and difficult choices for the player. However, where aspiration gave way to risk was in revolutionizing the popular combat system, abandoning the action setting in favor of real-time turn-based combat. This is a choice that did not fully convince us and which, we suspect, could alienate some of the audience that loved its predecessor. The end result is therefore not far removed from the software house's tradition, partly due to a technical aspect that is harsh at times, an overly uneven pace, and combat that is not as polished as one might have expected.

FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE does justice to one of the best survival horror games not only of the sixth generation but in the entire history of the medium. The story of Mio and Mayu Amakura continues to be as chilling now as it was twenty-three years ago, thanks to technical and gameplay tweaks that are both targeted and respectful of the original material. From this perspective, it is a shame that the optimization on PlayStation 5 does not currently offer a perfectly smooth and flawless experience. In this context, and faced with a title that perhaps remains too faithful to itself (including its traditionalism and wooden feel), what remains is an inevitably bittersweet feeling. Fans of the genre will love it, while we advise everyone else to approach Minakami Village with caution: once you enter, getting out will not be easy.

Tales of Berseria Remastered brings back one of the most unique chapters in the franchise, featuring a fascinating story, memorable characters, and a truly compelling combat system. Given that the title is still one of the most captivating JRPGs in the recent history of the genre, it remains to be seen how successful the remastering process has been. From this point of view, Bandai Namco is following the same line already seen on previous occasions, combining subtle technical upgrades, the inclusion of released DLCs, and a wide range of quality of life improvements. Perhaps more could have been done to give Velvet Crowe's revenge a new memorable life. However, the title is and remains the best way to experience this great episode of a historic saga.

Poker Night at the Inventory is one of the most unusual products in the Telltale archive, resurrected by Skunkape Games after the excellent restoration work dedicated to the Sam & Max episodic trilogy. This time, however, we are faced with a title that is very difficult to recommend without reservation. In terms of gameplay, it is a simple No Limit Texas Hold'em Poker game which, apart from a few minor cosmetic unlockables, offers nothing special except for the presence of some iconic characters from the world of video games and American animated series (more famous in their home country than here in Italy). Unfortunately, the limited gameplay and lack of Italian translation create a clear obstacle for those who would like to enjoy at least the main selling point of the title: the gags and witty dialogue of the cast.

High on Life 2 succeeds in a task that is anything but obvious. Not only does it preserve the iconic sardonic wit of its predecessor, but it also manages to enrich and refine the gameplay formula with greater quality and variety. All this, of course, in the name of the most unpredictable madness. Those who loved the first chapter will adore whizzing around on their skateboards between witty jokes and galactic bounties. For everyone else, the crazy universe of Squanch Games could win you over, provided you embrace its peculiar humor and structurally classic approach.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is yet another excellent installment in a saga that has now spanned more than twenty years. The remake of the ill-fated third chapter in the adventures of Kazuma Kiryu reworks the gameplay, story, and content to make it a fresher and more appealing product. Not only is the main campaign now more fun and fluid to play, but the brand new appendix dedicated to Yoshitaka Mine adds a touch of extra variety to an unquestionably solid package. Much has been said about the controversies surrounding the title (mainly related to narrative and casting choices, as well as new content that in some cases has replaced older content), but honestly, it seems to us that they are talking about everything except the validity of the title itself. The saga will inevitably have to deal with the near future and all that it entails. But returning to the Morning Glory orphanage after all these years couldn't be more comforting.

Soulslinger: Envoy of Death is both a great idea and a missed opportunity. Combining FPS and roguelite in a supernatural setting set in a Western afterlife shaken by a mysterious organization... well, it's certainly intriguing. It's a shame, though, that once you pick up the controller, the game never really takes off. The technical aspects are uneven, the gunplay lacks impact, the progression is uninspiring, and the level design is ill-suited to the desired dynamism of the gameplay. In any case, it remains an enjoyable title for a few hours of lighthearted fun.

Styx: Blades of Greed carries with it an undeniable sense of ambition. Cyanide Studio's intent to create the definitive chapter in the stealth franchise is evident and shines through in what is effectively the greatest and most varied adventure of the witty, irreverent goblin. In this sense, the development team has learned from experience, introducing improvements that mark a decisive step forward from Shards of Darkness, released almost ten years ago. However, what dampens enthusiasm is unfortunately a technical optimization of Unreal Engine 5 that is problematic to say the least. Between unstable frame rates, stuttering, and assorted graphical uncertainties, slipping into the shadows currently comes with obvious compromises that make the experience far from what developers and audiences had hoped for.

Big Hops is the result of a pure love for 3D platforming. At a time when the absolute value of two-dimensionality is being rediscovered, Chris Wade and Luckshot Games remind us how delightful it can be to explore a three-dimensional world with all its variables. A title that knows how to entertain without reservation and, net of a large number of tributes to the classics we all love, also manages to introduce some tasty winning ideas. The first little surprise of 2026, and at a very competitive price too. A must-have for fans of this glorious genre.

Nioh 3 has proven to be the pinnacle of Team Ninja's franchise. It's a product that retains all the defining characteristics of the series but elevates every aspect to the nth degree. An even more responsive and in-depth combat system is combined with an intriguing storyline, within a new dimension that abandons the linearity of the past in favor of an approach based on the freedom to explore large areas rich in treasures, secrets, and adversaries. Some players may be taken aback (even intimidated) by the vastness of the gameplay possibilities on offer, others may complain about the recycling of some content from previous chapters in the series, and some may be disappointed by a visual presentation that is sometimes less polished than expected. However, in any case, the new Nioh is nothing less than a colossus capable of engulfing players for a gargantuan number of hours of fun and cutthroat combat.

Octopath Traveler 0 is a small miracle that does justice to the insights of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. An adaptation that shows all the hidden potential of an epic and immersive narrative, rich and varied gameplay, and genuinely overflowing longevity. There are still a few minor issues related to a technical conversion that is less performant than expected, some gameplay elements that are less refined than others, and the absence of Italian localization. For those who can accept these flaws, they will find themselves with another great RPG from 2025.

Two Point Museum: Zooseum is an excellent and substantial expansion for one of the most popular management games of 2025. It is a varied and comprehensive content pack that not only offers extra longevity, but also, and above all, a concept that is pleasantly different from that explored in the base game. Whether it's building your nature reserve or taking care of all the wildlife species present, there is always something to do and a goal to achieve. If you loved the latest chapter in this saga, this is a DLC you won't want to miss.

Terminator 2D: NO FATE achieves no small feat: it does full justice to James Cameron's iconic 1991 movie. Developed by Bitmap Bureau, the title embraces pixel art and two-dimensional arcade action to reproduce not only the most famous scenes from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, but also new scenarios with multiple endings. An excellent result in terms of the quality and quantity of the gameplay, which nevertheless has to contend with a not insignificant circumstance. NO FATE recalls not only the aesthetics but also the challenging difficulty of the scrolling shooters of the 1990s, with some significant peaks that will put players' skills and patience to the test. If you can't get past that, look elsewhere... for everyone else, well... “no hay problema.”

The task facing Terrifier: The ARTcade Game was not exactly straightforward. Adapting a franchise like the one created by Damien Leone to the world of video games presented many pitfalls and challenges. Relevo tried its hand at a side-scrolling beat 'em up, immersing it in the unhinged bloody madness of Art the Clown while giving a nod to the gaming tradition of the 80s and 90s. The arcade cabinet atmosphere is present and reworks the carnage of the feature films with an original twist. However, from a strictly gaming point of view, we are faced with a title that is too simple, lacking the necessary bite to make up for its lack of originality. If you are among the most die-hard fans of the unstoppable clown, give it a try: it could become a little guilty pleasure.

Sakurai-san fully realizes the vision he sketched out over twenty years ago in the previous chapter for GameCube. Part kart game and part action game, Kirby Air Riders manages to stand out from easy genre comparisons and shine with its overflowing originality. A content-rich package offering countless hours of fun, further enhanced by impeccable technical execution. An unmissable title for many, provided you accept two strict conditions: the chaotic nature (at times truly significant) and the depth scattered among the many (perhaps too many?) facets of gameplay.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion has proven to be an incredible love letter to the Marvel Universe. A side-scrolling beat 'em up packed with references, characters, and settings that appeals to both long-time fans of the franchise and newcomers alike. With a generous cast of playable characters (a truly imaginative selection) and a combat system that rewards creativity, the award-winning team of Tribute Games and DotEmu hits the mark once again. There is a slight bitter aftertaste for a game that deserved a longer runtime, as well as for technical optimization that surprisingly highlighted a few too many flaws in our test. If you are a fan of the genre and can't wait to beat up the horrors of the Annihilation Wave with Cosmic Ghost Rider, well, your moment has come.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has turned out to be the Mr. Hyde to the Dr. Jekyll represented by the previous installment of Activision's long-running series. Whereas last year we enjoyed a surprising campaign and a solid multiplayer mode, albeit lacking in particularly inspired launch content, Black Ops 7 does the exact opposite. The campaign disappoints resoundingly and without appeal, ending up evoking the ghosts of the controversial Modern Warfare III, while the multiplayer is more vast and rich than ever this year. But the biggest problem, at the end of the day, is that the series seems to have reached a critical point, likely crushed by a formula of annual releases that prevent it from delivering a complete package. Above all, Black Ops 7 highlights another element: the static nature of a gameplay formula that is increasingly feeling the weight of the years. And in a 2025 where the series has been overshadowed by hungry competition, reflection on the future of the franchise becomes inevitable and unavoidable.

Lumines Arise is yet another brilliant work bearing the signature of Tetsuya Mizuguchi. Magnetic and addictive, the return of the puzzle game that debuted twenty years ago on PSP is another cherry on top of a stratospheric 2025. Aesthetically hypnotic and with a practically perfect soundtrack, Arise also offers incredibly generous content ranging from single-player modes to a robust online component. Today, as then, the saga continues to be an experience not for everyone due to its unique gameplay and steep learning curve. For lovers of the genre, but also for anyone who wants to try something truly different and original, this is a precious little gem not to be missed.

Whispers in the Woods proved to be a good expansion for returning to the Exclusion Zone described in Pacific Drive. It is a long-lasting and pleasantly disturbing adventure, with some quality of life improvements that make the original experience less rough around the edges. At the same time, the DLC reconfirms all the strengths and weaknesses of the title, which continues to be a production for many but not for everyone, mainly due to its underlying repetitiveness accompanied by a rather steep learning curve. If you loved the title, jump in the station wagon and watch out for the whispers coming from the woods.

This new return to Bikini Bottom confirms the excellent qualities of the series dedicated to Nickelodeon's mascot. SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is once again a fun and richly varied platform game, appealing to both fans of the franchise and lovers of the genre. A hilarious script blends with a duo of playable protagonists to make this chapter the most lively and dynamic ever, although perhaps anchored to an excessive classicism. If you enjoyed The Cosmic Shake, you can't miss the new adventure featuring the Flying Dutchman.
