After years of remasters, collections, and mobile spin-offs, Once Upon a KATAMARI marks the return of Bandai Namco's crazy series with a totally new chapter. Faced with yet another mess caused by the careless King of the Cosmos, it will once again be up to the Prince to find a solution, this time by traveling through time. A chapter in which the magnetic simplicity of the franchise shines with ever-new and entertaining ideas, without offering an experience that overturns tradition. Those who have always loved the brand will adore this long-awaited revival. For those who have never had the opportunity to try an episode of the series, there is no better time to start rolling!

Despite itself, Chicken Run: Eggstraction is one of those titles that can slip by unnoticed in the chaos of an increasingly lively and abundant video game market. Quite ironic for a stealth game. However, ignoring this production by Aardman Animations and Outright Games could be a serious mistake. Not only are we faced with a fun adventure with challenging gameplay suitable for all ages, but also a hilarious sequel to the film “Chicken Run.” If you love the franchise, you have no excuse not to pay attention to it. For everyone else, it's yet another demonstration that sometimes small surprises can hide in plain sight.

Ironically, Pokémon Legends: Z-A thrives on dualisms and almost antagonistic contrasts. On the one hand, we have perhaps the most innovative title in the franchise's recent history, with experimentally revamped gameplay that offers exciting new challenges. On the other hand, there is an inherently outdated production, with a technical aspect that is openly disappointing and difficult to justify. We have a fun title capable of entertaining for hours on end, but at the same time a superficial setting that can lead to an understandable perception of repetitiveness. Game Freak's new title thus becomes a borderline project, as enjoyable and even refreshing for the most devoted fans as it is potentially disappointing for those who would like to see something more from The Pokémon Company's gaming universe. A crossroads that we hope will mark a decisive change of pace in the future of the saga.

Take The Outer Worlds, improve every aspect that didn't convince the most skeptical at the time, and you'll have the result of Obsidian Entertainment's hard work. The space madness returns in The Outer Worlds 2 with brilliant writing, multifaceted role-playing, and even greater freedom of choice. All this is complemented by a fun combat system and decidedly more contemporary gunplay. The icing on the cake of a year to remember for the Californian team, which once again proves itself to be one of the most successful software houses of this generation. It's a shame that the AI is sometimes too predictable and, ultimately, that they didn't dare to go even further with this formula. With a new chapter of such quality, the prospects for a great franchise are definitely there.

Battlefield 6 represents the complete rebirth of a franchise that had fallen adrift after a few unfortunate iterations. It's an “almost” impossible mission undertaken by the legendary Vince Zampella, who led the development team in creating a title that takes the best elements of the franchise and refreshes them in a package of the highest quality. Fun content, graphics quality, and technical stability are already evident at launch, further highlighting the ambition of a project that not only aims to revive EA's battlefields but also steal the spotlight from its direct competitors. While we await some necessary adjustments to balance certain aspects of the fabulous multiplayer mode and look forward to the free content coming soon, the only real regret is a somewhat disjointed single-player campaign. Otherwise, forget your egos, choose your class, and get busy: synergy pays off.

If unpredictability is Double Fine Productions' signature style, then with Keeper we can say that the development team has proven it once again. An adventure that focuses primarily on atmosphere, thanks to “a story that needs no words,” as poetic as it is dreamlike. Surreal and allegorical, comforting and moving, the journey of the sentient lighthouse and the seabird delicately touches on important themes, stimulating even greater reflection. It is an achievement that expresses great artistic sensitivity, but one that comes at a price. Namely, a very simplified and linear gameplay, alternating between simple puzzles and long walks through incredible scenery. This title is inevitably not for everyone, but it is equally impossible to remain indifferent to it.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger won't be remembered as the JRPG of the year or a GOTY contender. But honestly, that's okay. Not all titles aspire to be top of the class. Sometimes, fortunately, there are productions that aspire to touch people's hearts, to reawaken memories and give them dreams. And Bandai Namco's title does just that. A real gift to fans of the franchise, an exciting adventure that is sure to thrill those who grew up on Digimon. Get ready for a journey through time: there's an apocalypse to prevent!

Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition is a partial answer to the question: how can a VR title be successfully adapted by removing its structural characteristic? Survios' ambitious episodic project thus becomes orphaned of its potential, which is closely linked to the way of experiencing interactive horror against the fearsome xenomorphs. At the same time, it also loses some of its original engagement and tension in exchange for more solid and functional gameplay that speaks the playful language of the vast majority of the audience. What remains is an FPS that is certainly enjoyable, especially for fans of the iconic franchise born from the imagination of Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon. For everyone else, it is probably better to wait for the second and final part of the story to better understand the cohesion of Zula Hendricks' odyssey.

In finally re-releasing, after almost thirty years, a true masterpiece of tactical JRPGs, Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles can only be a memorable title in its own right. An improved and enhanced version of the 1997 classic, made appealing by many small improvements, fully dubbed dialogues, and an unprecedented Enhanced version. While the title remains untouchable and truly unmissable, there is a hint of bitterness in the treatment reserved for such a milestone. What could have been a much more ambitious and daring re-release ends up being a mere, not particularly convincing remaster (notably lacking Italian among the supported languages). Yasumi Matsuno's gem probably deserved better.

Dying Light: The Beast is what Dying Light 2: Stay Human should have been. A new standalone episode of Techland's acclaimed horror saga, which recaptures the charm that made the original a beloved and fondly remembered cult classic. Despite a typical revenge story lacking in originality, Kyle Crane's journey is brutal, violent, and decidedly entertaining. A production that makes compactness and concreteness its winning weapons, reminding everyone that the night is always scary, but punishment is even scarier.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is, without mincing words, one of the best titles of 2025. Lizardcube and SEGA have not only succeeded in resurrecting Joe Musashi, but have done so with such exquisite quality that it instantly becomes the most compelling chapter in a saga spanning almost four decades. Aesthetically fabulous and playfully exciting, the new venture from the creators of Streets of Rage 4 is a must-have for all fans of action platformers and lovers of quality gaming.

Borderlands 4 marks the absolute peak for the Gearbox Software franchise. It's a huge title that takes advantage of the open world and revamped shooting mechanics to set a new benchmark for all fans of the series. At the same time, the new chapter in the series reconfirms the strengths and weaknesses of the gameplay formula, which is beginning to show signs of fatigue while continuing to sail with the wind in its sails with a gameplay loop that is still tremendously addictive. Furthermore, the technical side of things currently suffers from more than a few uncertainties due to Unreal Engine 5 not being used to its full potential. The new adventure on the planet Kairos is pure excitement and will delight many players. However, some may begin to feel bored by storming yet another Crypt with guns blazing.

Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile further enriches the video game series dedicated to Hercule Poirot's great cases. Drawing once again from a timeless classic by the Queen of Mystery, Microids brings to life a fun and engaging graphic adventure. The gameplay is stimulating enough to appeal not only to fans of graphic adventures, thanks in part to the artistic direction of unquestionable personality. At the same time, Death on the Nile reconfirms the atavistic and intrinsic simplicity of the saga, which makes the experience perhaps too guided for more savvy players.

Heretic + Hexen is yet another successful restoration by the prolific developers at Nightdive Studios. This time around, two classic fantasy shooters from the 90s have been polished up. They are probably unknown to today's audience, but they will make the hearts of those who grew up on FPS games beat faster. Improved performance, a slew of enhancements including multiplayer and quality of life implementations, and two brand new episodes created with id Software. The “usual” sumptuous package from the Vancouver team, a must-have for the most avid fans of the genre, but also for those who want to savor a couple of pages of history.

Gears of War: Reloaded proves how good games can stand the test of time while preserving their best qualities. In this sense, the re-release of the Epic Games classic revives the same emotions of 2006, this time not only for Xbox and PC audiences but also for PlayStation users, who welcome the saga with enthusiasm. For the record, there are inevitably a few wrinkles, whether due to certain structural choices or constraints of the time. That said, the historic TPS is still relevant and damn fun thanks to a respectful and high-quality remastering.

An unmissable title for all fans of the omnivorous pink ball, but also for all Switch 2 users.

Cronos: The New Dawn is a competent and extremely solid survival horror game that proves, once again, that thrills are Bloober Team's calling. On closer inspection, the sources of inspiration are many and so obvious that they may leave genre lovers with a feeling of déjà vu. Beyond that, however, the experience remains satisfying thanks to its bleak atmosphere, fascinating script, and gameplay in which every resource truly makes the difference between life and death.

NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound is yet another success for the creators of Blasphemous. The Game Kitchen and the Dotemu label have formed a deadly alliance, giving life to a spin-off of the legendary action saga, drawing on its most classic features and enriching it with modern, frenetic, and exciting ideas. A proudly arcade-style experience that, in keeping with tradition, requires a certain amount of manual skill to enjoy every nuance of the gameplay. Its longevity is not exactly thrilling, and some design choices may not be to everyone's liking, but for action lovers, there is no doubt about it. Even without Ryu Hayabusa, this ninja knows how to be lethal.

As expected, Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is the perfect edition to enjoy what is the best party game in the historic franchise. In addition to offering an improved version of the original title, the inclusion of Jamboree TV has allowed developers to focus on a whole series of new mini-games that showcase the technological capabilities of Switch 2. This is where all the relevant assessments come into play: the new television format is rather limited and, moreover, can only be fully enjoyed if you have a camera, in order to get the most complete and refreshing experience. Despite Jamboree's undeniable qualities, it is still a fundamental title for laughing and having fun with friends and family. However, those who have already played it and are not eager for the additions in this version may not be particularly intrigued by the prospect of upgrading.
