Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster may not be such a special game in the minds of Star Wars fans, but it is still a fun title in the saga. Kyle Katarn's story may no longer be canon, but it's still good enough to explore. This is one of the few games that doesn't have a lightsaber, but the gameplay can still be very fun and Nightdive's work in bringing the game to modern platforms is something to be praised.

For those who grew up in the 90s with a SNES and were able to play Top Racer, the Top Racer Collection is a great gift. Featuring three fun racing games, several resolution options, including the option to replicate CRT effects, as well as additional modes and splitscreen and online multiplayer, the collection will please fans of classic racing games.

With few 2D fighting games coming to the Nintendo Switch, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes fills a gap that has been missing not only on the platform. With the end of series like BlazBlue, titles that use sprites and have diverse mechanics are increasingly disappearing to make way for more simplified experiences.

The new version is still as fun as the original and it's great to have the opportunity to play this classic on the Switch. That said, I can't recommend picking up this game, at least not yet. The errors and bugs that are present here are something that take me by surprise, given that Feral's previous titles work perfectly.

Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem is a short, fun and challenging action game that will please those who enjoy a challenge. It doesn’t offer many extras, but the duels with the bosses encourage you to master Sakuya’s skills and improve your reflexes. There are some minor performance issues and the short length may be a nuisance for those who want something more robust.

Continuing with a style that has proven successful and introducing some small improvements to the formula, NARUTO X BORUTO Ultimate Ninja STORM CONNECTIONS is the best game in the Ultimate Ninja Storm saga from a gameplay standpoint. Over 100 playable characters, easy-to-master controls, and plenty of action are here for players to enjoy.

Star Ocean: The Second Story R is one of the best remakes released by Square Enix this year. The original Second Story has always been considered one of the best titles in the franchise, and this remake makes things even better. Bringing what is essentially a 90s JRPG into the modern era, the additions made here make this the best way to enjoy this classic.

Borderlands 3 was announced by surprise on the Switch and quickly became one of the titles I most wanted to play on the platform. I had fun with the game, its additions to the gameplay are very good and extremely welcome. Although the story and humor are not very good, Borderlands 2 is still the best in this category, the new Vault Hunters are fun to control and especially to see their interactions in some of the quests. The skill trees, gameplay and weapon control are the best so far.

Company of Heroes Collection brings one of the best RTS options to the Nintendo Switch, and it's very well adapted for the platform. The title has some problems, such as cutscenes running at a few frames, the lack of touch control options – which only work in the menus – and some small limitations. However, the package brings an incredible game and two expansions full of content, with a well-adapted and addictive gameplay, which encourages the player to try hard and discover new ways to complete the objectives.

It's been a while since anything in the Fate/ series has gotten me as excited and curious to follow as Fate/Samurai Remnant. Despite reusing many narrative elements from past titles, the game has a unique charm that will captivate players who want a new experience in the franchise.

Of course, 30XX has its own charm. As mentioned before, the game's roguelike elements are very good and addictive. This is a game that encourages learning and avoiding certain vices that may exist in more experienced players of the genre. The randomness, whether in the choice of scenarios or which improvements will be available in the runs, encourages the player to play it many times in search of the challenge of finishing the game in the most different ways.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Into Reverie brings a satisfying conclusion to the Trails saga for those who have been following it for a while. The game has issues with its narrative, but Falcom managed to wrap up some things that needed to be wrapped up.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is another good package that offers new players the chance to experience a series of adventures of the little blue robot. With a lot of content spread across six games that last around 12 to 20 hours, RPG fans will certainly get a lot out of this collection. During my playthrough, I found some minor visual errors, however, the titles work very well. The biggest problem with this collection is its high asking price, but if that's not a problem, you'll find some interesting titles.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure brings the Crossbell duology to a magnificent close, setting the stage for the next chapters in the Trails saga. With its arrival in the West, fans finally have all the main games in the franchise officially translated, allowing for a better understanding of the entire storyline of the series.

With the re-release of FATAL FRAME: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Western fans can finally officially enjoy one of the Wii's most forgotten games. For a game that involved three different companies, the title has some good ideas, but its execution falls short in some areas.

Gal Guardians: Demon Purge is a spin-off of an ecchi franchise and its final quality clearly demonstrates this. When compared to other 2D games from Inti Creates, such as the Azure Strike Gunvolt series, the drop in quality is noticeable. Despite having good gameplay, the combination of its visual elements, sound and design choices end up ruining what could be a good experience.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails From Zero is one of the biggest JRPG releases of 2022. The fact that we're finally getting the game in the West after 10 years is impressive, but it also brings some problems, especially since it's part of a series that is extremely well-known for its narrative.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is a new chance to experience one of Square's most beloved games released during the PlayStation 1. The game comes with some improvements that will greatly help those who want to play the title and learn about its rich story. Unfortunately, narrative and performance issues may end up being negative in a title that had everything to shine and be another great relaunch from the company.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX reintroduces Koei Tecmo's monster franchise to video game fans who have forgotten about the series or never had the chance to experience it. With some interesting new features, the package is interesting for those who enjoy simulation games and have always wanted to create monsters from scratch instead of capturing them. With the idea of creating monsters from CDs, there's nothing more fun than bringing a creature to life through your favorite game, training it, and winning a difficult tournament at the end thanks to a stroke of luck.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is a game with a lot of problems and it certainly wasn't the best choice for a re-release. Despite having some improvements over the original release, the remaster still has the same design issues as the Wii U version, mainly the fanservice that ruins the atmosphere, and those who decide to try the game to get to know the series may end up leaving with the wrong impression of the franchise.
