If you want to try these games, I truly believe they are worth the investment — not only for those who want to replay them, whether because they've already played them on the DS or on emulators, but also for those who enjoy similar RPGs from that era of the Nintendo DS.

Beyond the story, the voice acting – which reunites the original Legacy of Kain team – and the localization for our language are highlights of Ascendance. However, the many problems present ended up overshadowing the franchise's return. While playing, I found myself frustratedly thinking: "I expected more," "the series deserved more." The story ends with a hook for a future sequel. Who knows, maybe they'll get it right in a next game?! Just don't make high bets, because you might lose your wings like Raziel.

Despite the significant technical evolution, it's extremely evident that Planet of Lana II is more of a step on a staircase than a floor in a building. After finishing the game, I have no doubt that, at the end of the trilogy, the current title will be seen more as a "Two Towers" than as an "Empire Strikes Back".

SHINONOME ABYSS The Maiden Exorcist doesn't make any serious mistakes; on the contrary: its foundation is solid, but it doesn't quite stand out as a spectacular game. It sells itself on its gameplay, since there's almost nothing about the story or characters besides the exorcist herself, about whom we know so little that I had to look up her name on the internet.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits does everything right: the game feels like it was developed by a team that cares about polishing and delivering the product, and that's really cool, something that can be felt in all the main elements of the game.

I recommend Back to the Dawn, provided that complex systems, difficulty, and replayability seem like something worth giving a chance to, because I know the game won't let you down in those aspects; but if large volumes of reading and high-pressure decisions all the time aren't your kind of engaging adventure, then we have more accessible options with far fewer barriers to entry and demand than Back to the Dawn in the hall of ambitious modern indie RPGs.

It's truly a complete package that naturally and enjoyably enhances the original game, and is possibly the best Switch 2 Edition released to date.

South of Midnight is a game full of interesting concepts and ideas, but it falls short in its execution. The visuals are beautiful, but the animations make the experience feel choppy. The soundtrack and voice acting are great, but the game suffers from audio desynchronization issues. The stories and combat are interesting, but extremely repetitive. I can imagine this being an experience that clicks very well for some players, but for me, even though it was fun, it could have been much better.

Darwin's Paradox! isn't exactly the game I thought it would be, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Based on references to other games and the project's comedic tone, I expected a title that would make fun of an octopus's unusual movements, but the approach here is the opposite: a fast-paced, simple game with diverse scenarios.

Homura: The Crimson Warriors was a good entry point to the otome games for me despite having little romance and a bigger focus on its historical side. With unexpected plot twists and a cast of characters with distinctive personalities and personal development, it's a game worth giving a try if you're looking for a captivating drama that revolves around ninjas in an organized story with no inconsistencies.

Recommending The Midnight Walk is almost trivial. It's a reflective, beautiful, and fun journey. The Switch 2 version follows the pattern of many ports I've been reviewing recently: it's in no way inferior to the original versions. Of course, the lack of VR can be pointed out, and if the reader is interested in that technology, I suggest they look for the game on PC or PlayStation 5, depending on the compatibility of their available hardware.

If you want a parallel experience to Monster Hunter, with monster-tamer mechanics, a bit of the tension of being approached by a monster you're afraid will see you, or just want a satisfying turn-based combat with lots of strategy, play Monster Hunter Stories 3.

It's personally tragic for me to see that the Virtua Fighter series hasn't reached the popularity level of games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken. I say this as someone who really enjoyed the franchise's beginnings back then. In that sense, Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage serves as a way to revive the brand and introduce it to a wider audience. This idea might be corroborated by the recent announcement of the new title. I'm not saying that playing VF5 is a bad experience. It's just that it could be much better than it is.

Otome Daoshi -Fighting For Love- is an otome game with a curious Chinese ambiance and very charismatic characters. Besides an agile plot and excellent readability thanks to the effort of making each character have a unique voice, this work also brings a unique style in its visual aspects, standing out in its genre. The end result is frankly a must-play.

DAMON and BABY is a short and fun adventure that's really worth playing. It doesn't abandon its own identity in order to imitate anything else, staying on the side of healthy inspiration — which is what any good game inspired by something does and should do.

Far from being an experience with many technical problems, Ariana and the Elder Codex presents modest but honest content. The premise of repairing magic books could be greatly expanded in sequels, should the developers be interested. However, in both the current title and future ones, greater attention to refinement should be considered.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft brings to the Nintendo Switch 2 an important trilogy for the evolution of 3D adventure games. Even with improvements to facilitate access for new players to these classics, the overall experience remains almost identical to the original versions, presenting the same limitations and design problems that existed due to the limitations of 90s technology.

Pokémon Pokopia not only proves itself to be a revolutionary title within the Pokémon series, but also within the sandbox and life sim genres as a whole, elevating them to a new level.

I believe I don't have much to add given the extremely positive reception the title has already received since its release ten years ago. Its loop is engaging, its characters are lovable, the levels are complex… it's a tactical game that's hard to fault. Even with limited enemy variety, it's their availability and different routines that give the experience diversity.
