8 / 10.0 - Everdeep Aurora
Jul 9, 2025

Everdeep Aurora takes a bit of everything, which makes it a good metroidvania, but reduces it significantly to fit the scope of the game. In other words, it doesn't have a huge variety of settings, music, level design, skills, stories, etc., but it still manages to make what little it does have interesting — the game chose its battles, and won most of them overwhelmingly. In the end, what makes Everdeep Aurora special is how the game uses its “free” level design to its advantage, considering that this approach could easily backfire.

8 / 10.0 - Tamagotchi Plaza
Jul 8, 2025

I would definitely recommend Tamagotchi Plaza for younger children. The charismatic designs, musical voice acting, songs and minigames that have educational value put everything in a very interesting perspective for younger audiences. But honestly, even as an older person, I was able to enjoy this experience quite a bit, with a certain nostalgia for the style of games I played in Flash when I was younger.

Although this new entry in IREM's classic collection series only features horizontal shumps, the curation work here was extremely successful in bringing together games that have a unique synergy between them and that cater to a diverse target audience. It's very nostalgic to enjoy games that don't need anything more than addictive gameplay and attractive visuals to keep you in front of the TV or Nintendo Switch screen with a smile from ear to ear.

In a poker game, The Eternal Die would look insecure with his hand, even holding a Full House. Not strong enough to beat a Royal Flush from Hades, its clear inspiration, but enough to surprise the table that was expecting, at most, a pair.

I think that if they had given more depth to the characters, especially Juliet, the game would be more enjoyable to play. A more real protagonist with a more natural romantic development between her and her romantic interests would completely change the final tone of the story. But the lack of charm is critical, giving us a game like a beautiful plate of food where the chef forgot to add salt while cooking the meal.

Despite all the improvements over the previous version, Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage leaves a bitter taste in the palate of the shmup fan who is so well served on the Nintendo Switch. All my respect to the developers, but the energy that motivated them to produce a new version of the game could be better spent if it was directed to actually improving the experience of the first version.

RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is an excellent update to the original game, making the game truly feel modern. With a style that remains unique within the franchise, it's worth investigating the game in person to get to know its charm.

Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition is “at home” on the Nintendo Switch 2. With more than enough content to rack up three digits on the video game counter, the title is aimed at those who want to manage territories and track the progression of the experience automatically, based on their own choices, requiring a meticulous strategy in the simple act of allocating resources. There is, however, a complexity that may scare off certain players, highlighted by the shallow explanations in the tutorials.

6.5 / 10.0 - Gex Trilogy
Jun 28, 2025

Gex Trilogy brings Gex to a new generation of players in a package that offers the expected additions of a re-release, but falls short in trying to offer significant improvements to the games. The package is a good reminder of why the character only stayed in the 90s, whether due to his dated lines or the lack of necessary innovations in his formula to make him stand out in a genre with many rivals.

It's perhaps one of the most interesting and fun tactical RPGs I've ever played. This makes Front Mission 3 certainly not a game for “babies”, considering how complex it can be, which confuses me even more as to why the game behaves (narratively) as such.

Ruffy and the Riverside is a very creative and fun game. The visuals are very good, the controls are great, the NPCs are charismatic and funny and overall it doesn't leave anything to be desired in any aspect... except for the optimization on the Nintendo Switch.

9 / 10.0 - Until Then
Jun 23, 2025

With few setbacks, which are negligible to a certain extent, it is a complete package, with an immersive story that uses the media in which it was produced to tell it in a different way than anything that could be seen in an animation or traditional book. This is one experience that will remain in my memory as one of the most spectacular.

Between demos, minigames, stamps and information centers, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour does its job very well. It won't shock the world like Wii Sports or be a more complete experience like Nintendo Land, but it's a simple and straightforward perspective tailor-made for a tech-curious person like me.

BRAVELY DEFAULT FLYING FAIRY HD Remaster is finally out of "3DS jail", and now gamers have the chance to play this beloved classic on Switch 2. However, and I can't say this lightly, it seems to me that this game was only taken out so Square Enix could say they had a launch title ready for the Switch 2 sometimes. It's not a bad game, I want to make that clear, but in 2025, Bravely Default is going to have a hard time standing out, especially with its story.

A must-play for UNDERTALE fans, DELTARUNE is an experience that delivers as much excellence as its predecessor (if not more, considering the amount of content offered), improving combat mechanics and featuring an equally impeccable soundtrack. It's fun, funny, captivating and exciting.

Chronicles of the Wolf is a great representative of the metroidvania style, being accessible to players new to the genre while still being intriguing to veterans with its secrets and atmosphere.

6 / 10.0 - Hogwarts Legacy
Jun 18, 2025

It's not a terrible game; I mean, it's a strictly decent game. I had a good time with it for a few brief moments, but I quickly got bored after a few hours. It's not a game worth hating on, and I don't think it's worth condemning someone for choosing to play this game as a Harry Potter fan. After all, if this game had come out at any other time, no one would have cared about Hogwarts Legacy, and it would have been a drop in the ocean. And the bottom line is: it's a mediocre game, and it deserves a score that would put you one tenth of the way away from passing school.

8.5 / 10.0 - Battle Train
Jun 17, 2025

Battle Train is very good, both as an idea and as a game. Amidst the many rogue-likes that come out, Battle Train truly understands how essential it is to at least bring something different, even if small, to draw attention, and it does this very well. Using deckbuilding and building a board full of trains can be incredible, with my only criticism being the feeling of injustice I felt with certain bosses at various times.

The more you play, the more it becomes clear that Yakuza 0 hasn't aged at all in a decade. Being an excellent starting point for those who want to venture into the series for the first time, the Director's Cut brings welcome improvements, not just visual ones, and justifies its existence on the Nintendo Switch 2, becoming the definitive version of a work that was able to preserve its virtues.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk DX is an RPG that bets on tenderness, affection and an extremely introspectiv approach. Its subtle narrative allied with an expressive cast makes a compelling experience while alchemy, though challenging, opens an entire universe of possibilities to those who wish to dive into its complexities. On the other hand, the game doesn't hold our hand: vague tutorials, unclear objectives and confusing navigation can be tiresome and get in the way of the time-limited adventure. Even so, Ayesha has soul, a element that, in a game about rediscoving connections and embracing little moments, is worth a lot.
