Trails through Daybreak is a pleasant surprise that the Trails franchise needed. The game is a breath of life, bringing significant changes to its gameplay and presenting a narrative that seeks to bring a different perspective to what we expected and that focuses much more on the future without needing to look so much at its past. This is one of the best entry titles in the series and ideal if you want to try a more modern Trails.

Radiant Tale -Fanfare- can be described in a single sentence: A game that promised a lot in theory, but in practice, it ended being a fandisk that practically suffers in its executions. There's barely any content compared to the amount it promised, and the translation suffers from inconsistent terminologies that also plagued the original.

9.5 / 10.0 - 1000xRESIST
May 24, 2024

1000xRESIST has many layers, its peculiarities and the variety of genres it explores makes it difficult to classify it and put it in a specific box. Some might interpret it as an adventure, a walking simulator or even a visual novel. But at the end of the day, what remains is a unique narrative experience in one of the best-written games of the generation.

Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution continues to maintain the characteristics that make Compile Heart's classic series so special, even though it hasn't yet reached the level of technical polish to achieve the excellence that the franchise deserves.

8.5 / 10.0 - Horrific Xanatorium
May 10, 2024

Horrific Xanatorium is a short visual novel that knows how to use its devices very well to tell an engaging story. Despite its length, the game still manages to deliver well-developed and relatable characters that certainly help make the experience worthwhile.

Hashihime of the Old Book Town Append is undoubtedly a hidden gem among the catalog of visual novels available on the Nintendo Switch. The work certainly lives up to its appeal, making it a title worthy of a chance for lovers of a good time travel story, mystery or romance.

I had high hope for Eiyuden Chronicle ever since its Kickstarter in 2020. And yes, while the game genuinely feels like a love letter to both JRPG fans, and especially fans of the Suikoden franchise, it was not designed for the Nintendo Switch, and it shows. The various performance drops and long loading screens keep it from being the perfect experience, leaving me probably recommending that you do not get it on the Nintendo Switch.

6 / 10.0 - Moonglow Bay
Apr 21, 2024

At the end of the day, Moonglow Bay falls into a monotonous gameplay loop that doesn't seem to try very hard to make it interesting. This negative aspect could easily be fixed if the game set out to have a shorter length, it's certainly not a game capable of sustaining itself for many hours like other titles in the genre.

7.5 / 10.0 - GYLT
Apr 2, 2024

With gameplay aspects that are completely passable and rounded, GYLT isn't one of the most ambitious games in the survival horror genre, but it does offer a unique experience with a lot of singularity, as well as visuals and aesthetics that aren't commonly used in the video game industry, especially when it comes to horror games.

I absolutely loved Tengoku Struggle -Strayside-. While the story suffers from a few translation typos and an inconsistent rhythm at times, it's an otome game that can offer you a long read, but one that also manages to be comical, as you watch Rin's relationship with the prisoners deepen.

The Legend of Legacy is not a game that appears to be very ambitious in its proposal or execution. Because of that, it ends up not being more than average in almost every aspect. I don't think remastering is enough to entice veterans of the title to try it again, but it's certainly the definitive version for players looking for a JRPG that doesn't have a high level of mechanical and narrative complexity.

Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II proved to be the best game in the series to this day. Improving on previously presented mechanics while successfully trying to implement new and interesting ones, Experience Inc. has managed to create a world with charismatic characters and a captivating and immersive mystery that is very well followed by satisfying gameplay that flows organically. In conclusion, Death Mark II is an excellent horror game and definitely deserves to be played by fans of the genre despite its setbacks.

Spirit Hunter: NG is in fact a major upgrade over its predecessor. However, it still doesn't reach excellence in any of the aspects that the game does best, except for the art direction. Regardless, the series' potential is still clear, delivering above-average titles that have only improved so far. NG isn't an essential game for fans of the genre, but it offers a solid experience that will surely please most.

The new version is still as fun as the original and it's great to have the opportunity to play this classic on the Switch. That said, I can't recommend picking up this game, at least not yet. The errors and bugs that are present here are something that take me by surprise, given that Feral's previous titles work perfectly.

Death Mark is sustained purely by its carefully crafted atmosphere while delivering an average story with forgettable characters, but still managing to deliver a satisfying, though simple, gameplay loop. It's far from bad, but it's disappointing because it falls a little short of becoming a great game.
