NintendoBoy's Reviews

Oct 5, 2025

To be honest, as much as I had a lot of fun with the game, after this review it'll be a while before I get back to playing it. That's because SEGA announced an upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Unfortunately, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on the Nintendo Switch isn't something I'd recommend; it's a much better game than it is on Nintendo's first hybrid platform. I don't know how big the upgrade will be for the Nintendo Switch 2, but improving the lighting and clarity of what's displayed on screen will go a long way toward ensuring a more enjoyable experience.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is a fantastic remake of a classic JRPG. Keeping everything from the original, updating its visuals and sound effects to a new level, and adding the major improvements introduced over the years, Falcom demonstrates how to create a remake that will please both veterans and newcomers.

8.5 / 10.0 - Disgaea 7 Complete
Oct 3, 2025

Disgaea 7 Complete is a game with an approach I wasn't expecting, bringing more than just DLC and bonus content. At first, I thought it was just an upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2, but there's a lot that changes the game dramatically. However, that said, if you've already purchased Disgaea 7 on any platform, I don't think it's worth the asking price.

7.5 / 10.0 - Candy Rangers
Oct 2, 2025

Candy Rangers is a competent time killer, with a very attractive art style, riding the low-poly trend that seems to have become a favorite among indie developers instead of pixel art. It's a game that, I believe, only makes sense in handheld mode, given the short length of the levels and the amount of information available at once. At the same time, I miss motion controls or the inclusion of mouse controls for Switch 2 and Switch users.

The feeling I got from playing Mamorukun ReCurse! is one of tremendous nostalgia. The uncompromising and positive way everything in the game is communicated and designed entertained me to the point of practically transporting me back to simpler times, where the biggest challenge was getting home in time to watch your favorite anime.

7 / 10.0 - Formula Legends
Sep 27, 2025

Formula Legends is a charming tribute to one of the most famous categories in motorsport. With gameplay that blends simulation and arcade elements, numerous unlockable drivers and teams, and different eras with their own unique challenges, the title is a great choice for fans of the category, as well as serving as a fun racing game for the Switch and Switch 2.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian is an engaging and cohesive adventure in which your guests participate without feeling like outsiders. It's all very harmonious and nostalgic at the same time.

PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC isn't revolutionary or anything like that, but it's exactly what it needed to be: a faithful, loving remake with changes that improve the experience, maintaining the charm and simplicity of a 2000s 3D platformer with a modern makeover in the visual department.

8.5 / 10.0 - Cladun X3
Sep 24, 2025

Cladun X3 reminded me of how the Nintendo Switch has a variety of dungeon crawler RPGs and overall, it's a good addition to the genre for those looking to explore dangerous dungeons filled with powerful enemies.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky is much more than I previously thought. Compared to its predecessor, Atelier Ayesha, which shares the same worldview, it seems much more polished in terms of mechanics and in some small aspects regarding its game design. Sure, it's a product of its time, with budget constraints and all, but it's still a sincere game that demonstrates care, compensating for its flaws with good art direction and original ideas. However, its specific problems, such as the drawn-out story and the limitations imposed by the Time Limit, still aggravate it. However, Escha & Logy makes up for its flaws with its own strengths. Even though it's not in my "Top 5 Atelier games of all time," I recognize its strengths even more than I did in the past. Revisiting it has certainly been good for me, and Atelier Escha & Logy deserves to be part of this captivating saga that is Dusk.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance isn't as pure and clear a tribute as Streets of Rage 4 was, and I don't feel it will fuel the franchise as much as it did. That doesn't mean the game strays too far from the franchise. After the initial games of the '80s and '90s, the franchise flirted with more action-focused games, but they fell into oblivion. I wouldn't say this one deserves to be forgotten, but I admit it doesn't do much to be remembered.

It's easy to recommend The Edge of Allegoria for its combat, which is truly engaging, and there are few RPGs that don't take dozens of hours to complete. The tone and level design flaws, however, somewhat diminish the allegories' brilliance.

With a subtle story similar to its predecessor, Hollow Knight Silksong creates an interesting, captivating world that contrasts beautifully with the first Hollow Knight. It's a game made with love, priced affordably, that democratizes the game in a struggling industry, and I have nothing but praise for Team Cherry.

Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree is the ideal game for those who enjoy action roguelikes and want to enjoy a fun title with a good story and don't want to get angry with overly difficult bosses, in addition to the richly detailed setting and a good soundtrack.

9.5 / 10.0 - Illusion of Itehari
Sep 17, 2025

Illusion of Itehari definitely stands out due to its high production values for the genre. And, with its ambitious concept, the game shows itself as something more than a title that had a lot of money thrown at it. Itehari offers something besides a romance in a playful fantasy setting and uses its world's concepts to create stories that, even though they may not avoid obviousness, are still well written and say something about the real world.

Cronos: The New Dawn is an excellent survival horror game, drawing heavily from other horror games. You can clearly see the references and inspirations, whether in the gameplay, atmosphere, or puzzles. It's important to emphasize, however, that it's not a mere copy. In fact, the title has its own identity and can easily be placed on the same level as other giants of the subgenre.

7.5 / 10.0 - NBA 2K26
Sep 15, 2025

NBA 2K26 is an excellent title when it focuses on recreating basketball in a virtual world. Sports fans will be happy with what's available here. Unfortunately, 2K's aggressive approach to online modes, microtransactions, and especially the lack of leveraging the power of the Nintendo Switch 2 to deliver a customized experience specifically for the platform ultimately undermine what could have been a strong start for the franchise on the new console.

EVERYBODY’S GOLF HOT SHOTS is a solid, fun game with plenty of content if it caught your attention, but it really isn’t the most innovative or polished game, and unfortunately it doesn’t stand out as much as it could.

I thought this proposal of bringing a soulslike into a 2D metroidvania-style world was good, as games with this theme are scarce on the market, and it also has simple yet fluid combat, and a very complete item and magic creation system that helps to customize and make each game style something unique.

8.5 / 10.0 - Star Wars Outlaws
Sep 11, 2025

Star Wars Outlaws is an organic game, full of complex natural landscapes, modern textures, and highly detailed models. Of course, there are some noticeable compromises the developer had to make to bring the game to the Switch 2, but nothing that detracts from the experience.
