Critic Reviews for Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights

Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights is a great entry point to the genre of Otome. It includes a simple premise and a basic dynamic that works well in the game's favor.

It is an excellent sign when the range of negative points of a game are so few that they are of an almost insignificant nature. Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights meets that criteria. The issues discovered are minor, and the strength of narrative and difference in each romance route are genius and plentiful, making it a top-class addition to the visual novel library on Nintendo Switch. A minority might be put off by how long each romance route takes, but for VN fans the longer the better! A sequel would be very well received too, such is the desire for more adventures from the not-so-cursed royal lady.

Temirana might not be up with my very favourite visual novels, but it is entertaining, with good and warm energy behind it. It’s not the ideal entry point to otome as it doesn’t really have a hook beyond “exactly the kind of game otome fans like to see,” but if you are a convert, you’ll find yourself chuckling along with the way it plays within the genre traditions right throughout.

Will the Cursed Princess manage to find love as she takes on a new role?

Despite having more flaws than qualities, I can't deny that the characters in Temirana still managed to win me over in one way or another, not only individually, but also their dynamics as a group were what kept me playing this game for its long duration. However, when it shifts to a more character-focused approach, it ends up losing its way a bit and becoming much less fun to follow.

The visuals do leave a little to be desired, and the gameplay is nothing crazy, but this is a solid game for fans of the genre. You will find what you’re looking for here, I promise. I end my review by saying that if this is what we’re in for, I’m liking the direction Idea Factory is moving with their otome games. I’m hoping their future titles are filled with as much depth and content as this one.
