Critic Reviews for Reigns: The Witcher

A casual timewaster for people who are into the Witcher enough to get the references, but not married to the idea every Witcher game has to be a big RPG.

If you're a fan of The Witcher, it's a great way to have a new experience in the world, and if you aren't a fan, then it's still a good time with some very dark and silly moments mixed in. Reigns: The Witcher is a great take on the world of The Witcher and is an enjoyable, new way to experience it.

PC is definitely not my number one choice to experience the new adventures of Geralt. Though the game captures the essence of CD Project Red's The Witcher series, at the end of the day, it's just a casual card adventure, not a full-blown RPG, and that will make it difficult to keep up with the experience longer than a short while.

It may not adhere strictly to canon but Reigns: The Witcher is an endlessly entertaining new way to experience the Geraltoverse. Just don't be surprised when death comes for you again, and again, and again.

Reigns: The Witcher is a fun and addictive mix of The Witcher's dark fantasy and the simple, swipe-based Reigns mechanics. It doesn't stray far from the series formula, so longtime fans will feel right at home. Quick decisions can lead to life, death, or chaos, and while the gameplay can feel repetitive at times, the variety of characters and outcomes keeps it engaging. Perfect for short sessions on mobile, though not particularly innovative.
