Critic Reviews for The Rogue Prince of Persia
The Rogue Prince of Persia shows a hefty amount of promise, but it may be worth waiting until that promise develops into something more bingeable.
Smooth action blends seamlessly into smooth traversal, making this the better modern 2D Prince of Persia.
The Rogue Prince of Persia may still be in early access, but it's already a strong roguelike.
Even with its faults, The Rogue Prince of Persia is another strong outing for Ubisoft's long-running franchise, still fresh off of last year's overlooked gem, The Lost Crown. Evil Empire continues to up its game and it'll be exciting to see what awaits the team beyond the Prince's Oasis.
In the crowded roguelite genre, The Rogue Prince of Persia stands apart, thanks to super-smooth animation and deliriously fun free running. Whilst it never quite escapes the traps that occupants of its chosen genre often fall into, it still provides plenty of top-quality platforming fun.
Evil Empire has come up with an absolute banger of a roguelite that is not afraid to show where its inspirations lie, so much so that The Rogue Prince of Persia could be interpreted as some sort of Dead Cells 2 set in The Prince of Persia universe. If this is what the devs are really capable of, let's hope they keep finding video games that inspire the entire team.
